Well, we aren't supposed to trash the great ' KRKEY ' debates, so I thought we could come over here in our underwear ( I'm actually wearing sweat pants and a ' Cool Dad ' T-shirt, circa 1996 ) and drink our beer.. ( actually a shot of Cuervo with a dash of Orange Curacao for me... )


( rubs hands together, takes a sip of my Devils brew )... I can't wait for this thing to get started, it should be a riot..

What's crazy so far, is that krkey has shown no evidence of knowing what he sayeth.. I trust it is some kind of intellectual ' Rope-A-Dope ' and we will be richly rewarded in the tradition of samhainfire and Does scientific rigity lead to false negatives

Wait! Wait! We weren't richly rewarded..

But maybe this time it will be different....

So, anyway, why don't we gather over here to comment, go off on tangents as the need arises, and see if we can keep the clutter out of the great debate...
 
I think he's gone out to celebrate his birthday. It may have to wait.

i'm drinking mandarin orange spice tea, though i had plenty of guinness for lunch. mmmmmm, guinness. what is this thead about again?
 
I'm fully dressed (striped T-shirt, track suit pants) as the internet cafes from where I post object to me sitting in my underwear. And I haven't any beer, I usually just stop off at a bar for two drinks after I log off and then drink. I envy the folk who can sit at home in their underwear and sip their beer while posting, but at least they don't get to have passer-bys stare at them through a window!
 
I'm having a Bell's Pale Ale, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. When is this thing starting anyway? I'm expecting no less than Godzilla -Mothra. Or Ali-Frazier.

Oh well, the World Series rain delay is over.

I might however resolve to alcohol should the debate involve (im-)materialism.
 
I'm all anticipation here, but what exactly is being debated? That the scriptures taken by themselves prove the resurrection, or that they show that the resurrection is more likely than some sort of fakery?

It's gonna take a heap o beer.

While we're waiting, it just occurred to me, I'm not aware of any really funny stuff in the bibe; as opposed to stuff that can be made fun of.

I have heard that some of Jesus' parables would have been real knee slappers, but only in the original Aramaic, and you would have had to grown up in the neighborhood.. They lost something in translation..

Plato's Protagoras and Gorgias are funny in a dry way. The first book of the Republic is good, the section where Thrasymachus gets tied up in his own argument.

Aristophanes is funny and Lysistrata is pornographic - a winner on two counts.
 
I came in here because of the promise of beer, of which I have seen none.

I demand satisfaction and will not rest until the beer is flowing!

Undoubtedly Aristotle's Second Book of Poetics, Comedy, the last known copy of which was destroyed by a bitter, blind old monk named Jorge of Burgos in an Italian monastary in 1327.

So says my impeccable historical source, Eco's The Name of the Rose.
