Supposedly, the big battle is the Mercer/Bannon/Coulter/Session crew versus the Priebus/Pence/Kushner old-ish guard.

Mercer isn't happy with the party-liners being in charge and has been witholding support in various areas. I think we may have a power struggle between Trump's old backers (the Mercers) and the new connections Kushner's put together.

I hope Kushner wins. Sure, his sole qualification for the job is that he's married to Ivanka. But at least he doesn't appear to be an extremist.

Whether it's channeled via Bloomberg or not, the big tell in that is "a White House Official".... The White House has about zero credibility.

Who to believe? Said official purportedly claimed he never attended any meetings anyway. Conservative Treehouse says he was unavailable to comment because he was on his way to an NSC meeting.

Because of that, I feel it could be just another distraction move. The current WH has autocratic appearances -- moving people around without actually removing them from power is rather common in autocracies. Simply for appearance's sake.

Frankly, the only action I would feel to see significant is the removal of persons from the WH in handcuffs.

Well people who hold your opinion will probably have reason to keep worrying. Kushner appears, on the face of it, to be knocking quite a few skittles over. I find it hard to imagine Trump being that besotted with him, so it does suggest that Mrs Kushner has more sway with dad than I'd previously thought.

Hell, moving people around like that is common in every bureaucracy. Standard tactic when you have somebody who is incompetent or an embarassament, but whom you can't just fire. Give them a new position and a fancy title but one with very little real power. The term is "Kicked Upstairs".
