Merged Bannon loses National Security Council seat

It doesn't appear much is changing for the best looking guy after midnight in a liquor store.
He may well have lost the title however
While the revamp is likely to be seen as a victory for Trump’s second national security adviser, army lieutenant general HR McMaster, the substantive impact of the shakeup remains to be seen. A parallel security structure in the Eisenhower executive office building, known as the Strategic Initiatives Group, reports to Bannon, whose close relationship with Trump suggests continued influence in this administration.
the breitbart dude still appears to be in the loop.

He's always looked like that. Which doesn't exclude your conjecture.

The way Bannon always looks is why I found Ken White's post so funny (BTW, thanks for that info). On this season of Showtime's series Homeland the character Brett O’Keefe is modeled on Bannon but looking less like an addict than Bannon.

Good evening. I predict.......There will be information that Bannon had some major Russian connections. We are only weeks from Spicer saying we really don't know Bannon who only volunteered and played a minimal role.

If it really was to monitor Flynn, why would you want that come out as Flynn is negotiating to testify with one of the Congressional inquiring into the Russian ties?

Why antagonize him and make him look like an idiot? Or do they think this is a move to sanitize their connections to Russia, "We were so worried about Flynn's ties to Russia, we had a melting snow man watch him."

Then why appoint him?

The ****, man, this is all so bizarre. Stupid Watergate, indeed (like Watergate, just only involving stupid people, per John Oliver).

President Donald Trump has removed his senior strategist Steve Bannon from the US National Security Council (NSC).
The appointment in January raised fears that the gathering of US intelligence chiefs could become politicised.
A White House aide told US media the reshuffle was not a demotion for Mr Bannon.
Whatever the reason, it's a humiliating demotion.

Golly, who to believe? The New York Times or squirrelnuttree.com? Fortunately, the nuttysquirrel claim Bannon "removed himself" from the NSC principals is sufficiently absurd that the choice is obvious.

I especially like the part where Mr Bannon walked past the MSM on his way to "the" meeting.

No "official sources" just clear sight, funny that.

Moreover, Mr. Bannon’s Svengali-style reputation has chafed on a president who sees himself as the West Wing’s only leading man. Several associates said the president had quietly expressed annoyance over the credit Mr. Bannon had received for setting the agenda — and Mr. Trump was not pleased by the “President Bannon” puppet-master theme promoted by magazines, late-night talk shows and Twitter.

lol

My favorite part is where Bannon threatened to quit if the change was made, and then the change was made, and then he didn't quit.

Could be that, still bizarre though.

Bannon wanted to quit but Rebekah Mercer urged him to stay because, "this is a long-term play.”

Republican mega-donor Rebekah Mercer, a longtime Bannon confidante who became a prominent Trump supporter during the campaign, urged Bannon not to resign. “Rebekah Mercer prevailed upon him to stay,” said one person familiar with the situation.

Another person familiar with the situation, a GOP operative who talks to Mercer, said: “Bekah tried to convince him that this is a long-term play.”

That'll show the liberals that claimed Trump was an empty vessel for nefarious billionaires and extremists.

Supposedly, the big battle is the Mercer/Bannon/Coulter/Session crew versus the Priebus/Pence/Kushner old-ish guard.

Mercer isn't happy with the party-liners being in charge and has been witholding support in various areas. I think we may have a power struggle between Trump's old backers (the Mercers) and the new connections Kushner's put together.
