Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to President Trump, has stepped down from Breitbart, the far-right website he returned to over the summer as executive chairman after being ousted from the White House.

The website announced the news Tuesday afternoon in a short article posted to the site.

"I'm proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform," Bannon is quoted as saying in the article.

Neither Bannon nor a spokesperson for Breitbart immediately responded to a request for comment.

Rats are now fleeing the lifeboats they were using to flee the sinking ship.

Propagandist loses job for telling the truth.

Trump referred to Sloppy Steve as "looking for a job" a couple of days ago. He gave an order and the Mercers jumped.

I think you are giving Trump too much credit. More likely, the Mercers made the decision and told Trump before it went down.

To repeat the joke I heard upon him leaving the WH:

Bannon was quoted as wanting to spend more time with his malt liquor and methamphetamine.

I wouldn't trust the guy as far as I could smell his filthy hair. I wonder what his long game is?

Sounds nice. Maybe some benzos to take the edge off.

I am certainly pleased that this rightwing nut job has finally received some significant push back and has likely been reduced in his ability to spread his special brand of crazy. Unfortunately the push back appears to come from other rightwing nut jobs who have their own brands of crazy to peddle. And this episode is likely to further deter people from publicly opposing Trump. Ironic isn't it, that in the end what was unacceptable for Bannon to say, what got him in the most trouble, was... the truth.

And speaking of the Mercers who withdrew funding from Bannon's planned further political wars, it should be no surprise why he left Breitbart:

The Mercers, Mysterious Manhattan Billionaires, Are Revealed to be the Owners of Breitbart News
Update: 1/9/2018: Steve Bannon, who served as White House Chief Strategist t for the first eight months of Donald Trump's presidential administration, has stepped down from his position as executive chairman of Breitbart News. Per the alt-right outlet, Bannon said, “I’m proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform.”

The announcement comes just a few days after a Wall Street Journal report suggested that Breitbart's board, including Rebekah Mercer, was considering axing Bannon. Specifically, the board was reportedly concerned over quotations from Bannon in Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury in which Bannon calls Ivanka Trump "dumb as a brick," and refers to Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with Russians as "treasonous."
Yes, Trump's still their guy, but Trump is not calling those shots, no way no how.

If you want some insight into the crazy alt-right remnants of the John Birch Society, this book explains a lot: Claire Conner's book:

Wrapped in the Flag: What I Learned Growing Up in America's Radical Right, How I Escaped, and Why My Story Matters Today

It's a fascinating read. The Mercers, Kochs, and the Scaifes, continue to spread this CT alt-right version of their reality. Bannon really is persona non grata after he let a bit too much gossip spill and from the sound of it also was quite the ******* while he was in the WH.
