Haiti is a country with a long history of demonic activity. Over 90 percent of Haitians are said to practice voodoo. Voodoo is a practice based on a mixture of African spiritism and witchcraft.
On August 14, 1791, a voodoo priest named Boukman is said to have made a pact with the devil through the sacrifice of a pig in a voodoo ritual. In this ritual, Boukman asked the devil for his help in liberating Haiti from the French. For this victory, he offered to give the country to Satan. On January 1, 1804, the free nation of Haiti was born and thus began a new demonic tyranny.
At the time of the pact, Haiti was France's richest colony, but it then became one of the world's poorest nations. Secular-minded people may scoff at the idea of the devil being the origin of Haiti's problems, but none of them has any answers that can better explain the situation.
Jean-Bertrand Aristide may be responsible for triggering his nation’s most recent slide in chaos. Last year he issued an executive decree sanctioning voodoo as an official religion. It allowed voodoo leaders to perform ceremonies--from baptisms to marriages--with legal authority.
