Banksy strikes again....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-47123606

The German museum displaying Banksy's painting that partly self-destructed at auction has "deactivated" the artwork's shredding device.

The museum wanted to prevent the rest of the artwork being destroyed.

Henning Schaper, the director of Frieder Burda de Baden-Baden Museum in South West Germany, said they wanted to avoid a visitor setting off the shredder.

Phew! I'm glad they followed my advice.

Does Banksy have the address of who purchased it. What's to stop him from driving by and trying to activate the shredder again remotely? It's a ticking time bomb, Parcher!!

I didn't think anyone would open it up. They carefully opened the frame and deactivated the shredder.

I think that this answers questions. It was a shredder and not something that spit out something already shredded or some other canvas. What you saw displayed behind glass was what got partially shredded.

If there had been more than one canvas involved in a "trick" then it would have been announced now after the internal inspection.

Way too much Kremlinology. Who knows what they actually did or saw?

And I think that’s fantastic. Banksy is one of the true living legends in the world.

I love Banksy's works "in the wild", and the pulling off the anonymity adds to the fun. But this whole shredding thing was like a cheap vaudeville act. It takes away from looking at his work to know now that he's just another guy grubbing after all the jingle he can get, and is willing to lie to do so. Not that there's anything wrong with that; but if your persona is to blast value inflating, but in practice you beat yourself silly to artificially inflate the value of your work....the hypocricy just bums me out.

We got a new Banksy locally, back in April, on the walls of Reading Gaol. It's believed it was in support of a campaign to convert the now-disused prison into an arts centre.

Some idiot painted over the typewriter before the fencing was put up. A replacement typewriter appeared on a nearby bridge shortly afterwards.
