Ban Religion?

Without drugs yes, unless you include the 'opiate of the masses.' Also my point was about how well they would function within society if their own specific reason for funtioning well was taken away so how they function now is irrelevant.

I don't know if the last part was directed at me or not but I was not "making fun of religious people." I was talking about one specific subset of religious people and why banning those particular peoples religion could be a scary thing for society. Funnily enough I seem to remember you actually agreeing to that point. I prefer to make fun of religion than the religious.

And as for the sitting around part I feel I should point out that my membership predates yours and yet you have well over ten times the post count of me. I would therefore hazard a guess you do far more sitting around than I.

Yeah why would anyone want to remove the motivating factor that a large portion of society uses to achieve/rationalize moral behavior? As far as the sitting around goes, I lead a very active life and this forum serves as my escape from that life. Perhaps I do sit around a bit only I don't sit around much if I am not posting here. That doesn't make me a grumpy atheist.:) If you want to redefine crazy, go ahead. It's just semantics and doesn't change real life. What is the purpose of making fun of religion?

Bad idea, both practically and morally.

I don't think the Elton John has really thought this through.

There are so many things wrong with that idea. Banning all religions is, politically and socially, equivalent to forcing a single religion on all people.

I suppose it's a great idea if you want a horde of pissed off people to beat the **** out of you.
