Bachmann fails geography

Clearly it was the airplanes that gave the Continental Army the upperhand. Although history also mentions that the continental army was kept happy by the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (using Concord Grape Jelly).

What nonsense. For virtually the entire 2 years of the Revolutionary War, the Confederacy was barely able to maintain parity with the North Koreans.

Bachmann seems to be a bit of a scatterbrain to me. From what I can tell, if she spends much time with a mike in her face she'll say something stupid that actually matters. This time around, not so much.

Going back to the Obama thing, I had always thought he meant he visited the same state several times, or a few states twice, leading to 57 states total visited, but not 57 unique states. Regardless, it was a bit cringe-worthy in its awkward wording. But, as others have pointed out, that wasn't a prepared speech. This is kind of similar to a band saying "WE LOVE YOU, DETROIT" at the end of a concert in Minneapolis.

So you're thinking she's Vice President material?

So you're thinking she's Vice President material?
I didn't think so at first but given their recent track record, she's at least Republican VP candidate material.
last four were Dan Quayle, Jack Kemp, Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin.

(Preemptive response.)
Not that the Dems were any better:
Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, John Edwards, Joe Biden.

Vice presidential candidacy is often the end of the road politically or at least the beginning of the end. Let's hope Sarah's not the exception to the rule.

more from the bimbo from Minnesota

“I’ll tell you one thing, if I was ever to run for president of the United States, I think the first thing I would do in the first debate is offer my birth certificate, so we can get that off the table,”

Now would that be her New Hampshire birth certificate or her Iowa Birth Certificate?

So you're thinking she's Vice President material?
Of course, she isn't. That's why Dems are hoping the nutbar will run for it. Finding out that the prospective candidate is a neuron short of a synapse never stopped the GOP from nominating anyone before.

Maybe Bachmann got two incidents mixed up. New Hampshire was the site of some early secret experiments in the space race. Although dogs and chimpanzees had been shot into space in the early days of the space program, some data suggested that larger animals, such as humans, might suffer cardiac problems in weightlessness. To test this, a secret launch of cattle from Vermont was made from a base near the New Hampshire-Vermont border.

This became known as the herd shot 'round the world.

I wish these posts had been in this order.

And I wish to nominate this for best supporting post.

Ah, so when he said "fifty seven states" he really meant "fifty sovereign states." I see. So Obama doesn't think we have fifty nine states, he thinks we have 52.

Yup, still an idiot just like Michelle Bachmann.

It was flub:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/05/barack-obama-wa.html

He said, ""I hope I said 100,000 people the first time instead of 100 million. I understand I said there were 57 states today. It's a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh."

What bothers me is the isolation that the mistake implies. I can understand someone confusing the two places, but does she just write her own speeches without anyone doing fact checking or review? The mistake involved a major point of her speech, it was not just a slip of the tongue, it was a lack of craftsmanship.

Maybe she and her staff use Texas BOE history books?

To be fair, it was geography AND history. With barely one functioning neuron, how on earth do you expect her to handle two subjects?

One would hope she would have at least one assistant who could help her out on these kinds of things. Maybe's she's one of those people who doesn't like having smarter people around.

Guess what folks? It's the media's fault!!! That's right, the mean old media was following her around just waiting for her to say something stupid. That's just not fair!

Oh, yes, of course she brought up Obama's "57 states" gaffe as an exaple of the media bias. Nobody's ever heard of that, thanks to the media.

Reporter: Senator Obama, you mispoke when you said 57 states?
Obama: Yes I should have said 50
Reporter: So you didn't think there are 57 states before you said that?
Obama: No of course not.

Reporter: Congressman Bachmann, you mispoke when you said New Hampshire?
Bachmann: Yes I should have said Massachusetts
Reporter: So you didn't think it was Concord, New Hampshire before you said that?
Bachmann: Well, um, .....
