I had a very similar discussion with a friends acquaintance a little while back. When he brought up the idea of not vaccinating his potential children, it was because that doing so would cause an increase chance in them having autism by 10%.
Well it was not so much a discussion because he is a very arrogant fellow and I knew I could not possibly argue with him, so rather it was him preaching to me. This lasted till I asked the validity of his source and if he had actually talked to a doctor on the matter.
I can only assume now that the person who had told him the information was someone that he respected but did not know what he was talking about. The information quite possibly could have been related to the china indecent as well.
All in all, unless he could prove that his source of information was reliable I merely said he should contact a true professional as I did not have any evidence on the contrary at the time.
