I have a lot of social and anxiety problems, and a few of the psychiatrists I've seen brought up high-functioning or Asperger's as a diagnosis. I was skeptical. They gave me some rigorous neuropsychological testing and ruled it out. Anecdotally, I really haven't seen a problem.
The problem I have seen is people self-diagnosing online.
