Austria's highest court has annulled the result of the presidential election narrowly lost by the candidate of the far-right Freedom Party.

The party had challenged the result, saying that postal votes had been illegally and improperly handled.

In its ruling, the court said election rules had been broken in a way that could have influenced the result.

But it said there was no proof the count had been manipulated.

if the ghosts you mean are the ghosts of ethnic pride, resisting displacement and subversion, seeking self-determination and sovereignty, and acknowledging/valuing the ancient connection between blood and soil, then I say let's summon those ghosts.

If true, in 20+ years time, arms race. In a quarter century, Europe at war or at peace, but always teetering on some brink, and far less prosperous, surpassed by larger market players. Individual nation-states will succumb easily to blackmail, which is how power blocks often operate. Russians, Chinese, and Americans would all run roughshod over a fragmented Europe, leading to beg thy neighbor policies and the kinds of losses in national influence Brexiters would absolutely faint at.

UK in this scenario? Voiceless 51st state. Tories are already often sad repeaters of received Bible belt political and economic theology, only rinsing before repeating so it is less obvious. Sad to end as a colony, and ironic in choice.
