Merged Australian Politics / Australian election

Do you even read a post before responding? I have no idea how you managed to infer that I am only interested in "future events".

I have no problem with posts about significant historical events such as the dismissal or the famous "It's Time" campaign. But a 51 year old badge? Come on! At least shrink the picture so it doesn't amount to a Rule 6 violation.
How could I not read such a trivial post?

It looks like you are upset that you can’t manage your internet settings. The picture works well for me.

But whinge away.

So not only did you not read what I posted, you didn't read what LK posted either. You just saw an opportunity to label me a whinger and jumped right in.
Did I say I didn't read it? I said that I can scroll past stuff I don't care about. You really have a habit of saying that people said things they didn't say.

And some of us use the functions this forum helpfully provides....

I find the ignore button is worth its weight in gold....
I only use ignore for people who are continuously toxic, not for people who sometimes have something to contribute.

The post that I scrolled past was the badge. I didn't feel the need to comment about it. It was a political subject so I didn't feel that it was off-topic, I just didn't feel like reacting to it.

I can see ads boasting that mining pays 58 billion dollars in tax, more than any other industry. Well, the mining industry killed off the other industries so of course they should. They still don't pay enough.
And it's a claim that is deceptive in itself- they 'may' pay 58 billion in taxes (I'd like to see the figures showing that before I took it as gospel though lol) BUT- the mining industry also CLAIMS a huge amount back in tax rebates/returns....
How much is THAT worth, and how does it compare to the 58 billion they 'pay'????

For example, the mining industry in Australia uses around five BILLION litres of diesel every year in Australia- almost all of which is tax exempt....
So they pay tax, but can (and do) claim back a lot of tax right there- is that accounted for in their claim they pay a lot of tax??? or are they putting that in as 'see we pay tax' (but don't mention they can and do get it back...)

And thats just ONE of the many 'tax clawbacks' the mining industry gets.....
