Merged Australian Politics / Australian election

One in four people in the 1998 QLD state election voted for ON.
That WAS nearly twenty years ago...

Even in Qld (where yes her numbers still remain 'relatively' high) she couldn't even get to 8% of the vote (or 1 in 10 people lol) let alone 25%...

Ever the Mad Tea Katters party only managed to get 3 seats (one nation got none)...

(non Aussies may notice that the MTK party got 3 more seats than the ON party, despite getting only a fraction of the votes- this is due to the way our voting system works, its not 'first past the post' but has preferences and things that get allocated before the vote is taken, so minor parties can do deals with larger parties to get seats in parliament, rather than 'losing all their voting power' by not allocating preferences... Hansen has made herself so toxic that literally none of the other parties want anything to do with her... hence One Nations lack of seats, even given Qld's 'reputation' as the 'south' of Australia... (ie full of redneck hillbillies lol)
(and yes the irony of me saying that when I live in Qld isnt lost on me.... I wasnt born here though lol)

Exactly. Queensland will always vote disproportionally for ON for a number of good reasons. It may get some increase in Queensland, but it will not be reflected at a national level.

Queensland is basically the 'deep south' of Australia (in US terms lol)- full of racist redneck rightwing so called 'christians'

LOL- rather than the KKK, Qld has the RRR in the 'deep north'!!!!
:ROFLMAO:

'Whoosh'.....

That's the sound of something flying over some peoples heads lol
;-)
Well I know what the deep north’s RRR is………

I’m a subscriber to Melbourne’s triple R as well and have been for a couple of decades. Pensioner rate only $40 a year.

Meh- I still listen to the ABC- either Radio National, or JJJ
Mind you- its not like I got much choice unless I'm listening to River FM from Brissy online- as they are the only radio stations around here except the local AM station- which still does John Laws reruns (seriously- who the ◊◊◊◊ does reruns of talkback radio??? Canetoaders are bloody weird...)

I can remember seeing the Double J student AM radio station bring run out of a tiny office in an old building at RMIT. That's where the Rs came from. Their grind final day call was usually hilarious when they started doing it when they became RRR FM.

The Queensland coroner has just made a stupid decision. He has declared that the weiambilla police killings were not a terrorist attack because the killers were motivated by delusional religious beliefs.

How would you describe jihadist attacks?

Coroners are usually the voice of reason here. Not this idiot.
