Merged Australian Politics / Australian election

I guess it's time for the three-yearly reposting of this:

You jumped the gun. Nobody has said that a vote for a 3rd party candidate is a wasted vote yet.

Hope this helps, LK.

Thanks. I’ve already done that.

As for voting early, I think last election more than 50% of votes were cast before election day. Theoretically you have to give a reason why you can’t vote on that day, but in practice AEC staff don’t give a ◊◊◊◊.

I am somewhat troubled by voting early when there could easily be vote changing events up to the day, but that bird has flown.

If there was a way to remove all the Trumpets of Patriots, aka Clive Palmer's Big Tax Dodge grifty scheme, from all media forever, I would pay good money. He is not the least bit serious about any of his fairy-dust, unicorn-farts and rainbows promises, and his "candidates" probably won't realise he has totally conned them until after election day and he disappears back down his burrow.

Because I put it in Current Events. Politics is for the ongoing issues. This thread will last for little over a month and then the election will be over. But if the mods choose to move it to Politics, I won't object.

Well, well, well, Albo has catapulted Dutton as preferred PM, and Labor’s policies are very popular.

Labor may still get in as a majority government.

Albanese could be the first PM since Howard to win two elections. Either that or be the first time for a long time that a party serves only one term.

It's getting harder and harder to write political satire.

He is either not listening to his media advisors or they are incompetent.

Kirribilli House is such a blatant “look at me” mansion, unlike the lodge which tucked away and completely unpretentious. And, of course, close to where government happens.

This is very much like Trump wanting to move out of the White House. Even he is not stupid enough to do this.

I drive past it on a regular basis. The Lodge is pretty pretentious. It's just got a big wall around it, so you can't really tell.

Also, I know 100% without any proof or evidence whatsoever that there is a tunnel between it and Parliament House.
