Merged Australian Politics / Australian election

Meanwhile, the Greens continue to shoot themselves in the foot. New leader Shoebridge, well to the left of previous Green leaders, wants Australia to withdraw military support from the Ukraine.

He said he would be happy with humanitarian support, but that is not what they need. Putin would be very happy with his fellow traveller.

I'd be checking to see if he's on RT's payroll, because that is spectacularly stupid. I don't imagine Putin would even notice, but Australian voters will and they are overwhelmingly in support of Ukraine.

I try to like Green parties, but they don't make it easy. I killed the only decent leader they ever had.

Yeah, I'm a long-time supporter of the Greens, but I think that's misguided.

He's also the protoge/puppet of Lee Brown Rhiannon. Who continually claims that her parents were not stalinists and that they were good people. Quiet anti-stalin dissenters *wouldn't* be elected to the CPA's Central Committee , as her mother Freda Brown was in 1943, and her father Bill Brown, as editor of the CPA's Tribune in 1956, refused to publish Tribune's own correspondent's reports from Hungary and had that man expelled from the party.

What else is Lee Brown willing to lie about?

Some of their Facebook posts saying what their policies are, are rather stupid. Liberal, and ON are even worse, so have to vote for Labor as they are the only other major party capable of winning seats.
But I am in a very safe seat so my vote does not count.

I'm in a seat where it's extremely unlikely that the Greens will get a quota, so as usual at my next election I'll put Labor right underneath the Greens, ensuring that my vote ends up with Labor but I still get all of the benefits of putting the Greens on top.

We don't have quotas in the house of representatives. In each electorate, whoever gets a majority of the vote (after the distribution of preferences) wins the seat.

I think you meant that you live in an electorate that the Greens are extremely unlikely to win. Of course, that is true of every electorate. Of 127 members, only one of them is from the Greens (Elizabeth Watson-Brown - Member for Ryan in Queensland).

And yes, for the reason you gave, the Greens (and formerly ON) are good for a protest vote.
