Abbott is preferred PM again after a very brief stint with Gillard in front.

Primary vote up for the Coalition: 49%, up 4; Labor 29%, down 1; and the morons Greens 11 down 3.

Great news. The stocks of this, the worst government this country has ever had have nosedived even further. The Labor vote has plummeted to 29% primary vote according to the latest Nielson poll. Julia, the worst PM this country has ever had in it's short history is at an all time low of 35% approval rating. Her disapproval rating fell one point from the last poll to 53%. On a two party preffered basis it's 57% to 43% in liberals favour. Good by Julia, the elections cannot come soon enough for me. All sources are from this morning's West Australian Newspaper. Have to add that I love your description of the greens.

If you are referring to Howard 's rating before he became PM you are miles out.
The Liberal party was never at such a low rating of 29% primary vote while Howard was opposition leader.

Have to add that I love your description of the greens.

It would actually be something of a tragedy if any election result mirrored these sort of poll results. Australia deserves quality government and quality opposition. Strong Labor and strong Liberal are obviously essential to that mix and good governance.

The morons Greens are squeezing far left votes away from Labor leaving Gillard losing the centre to the coalition. The morons Greens are actually her and Labor's mortal enemy not the coalition. Too sad she hasn't woken up to this yet.

Oh no. I think Labor know this, but there's precious little they can do about it. If they lean any more to the left, they will lose more than what they would gain. Most Labor supporters I speak to are fed up with the lack of border protection since this government came to power. The man in the street is worried that Australia is going to end up like Britain and other European nations, swamped by a tidal wave of asylum seekers. It's happening today right before their eyes. I know of many staunch Labor supporters who will abandon ship come election time for this reason alone.

It may well do, but open your eyes and your ears, see and hear what ordinary people are thinking, talking about. Remember, most people know these are not genuine refugees, these are economic asylum seekers. The real refugees are in camps biding time and waiting their turn to get a chance at a new life in a new country.

Why are you ignoring the remark? Some of the genuine refugees are from Islamic countries. Do you have a problem with genuine refugees or not I thought you only disliked the queue jumpers?

I used it as an example as one of the reasons for the non popularity of this rabble who pretend they are a government. Namely, border protection dismantled the day after it was elected.

Interesting, I didn't realise there were so many indigenous Aussies in this thread. Heaven forbid that they or their forebears immigrated here. Oh, unless they were "proper" immigrants.

Let me ask a question, as this thread has drifted to immigration. There was opposition to southern European immigration in the 50s and 60s (bloody wogs and dagos); Asian immigration in the 70s and 80s (the yellow peril); and middle eastern and African immigration now. Have the earlier waves not enriched the nation? Is there any reason the current crop of immigrants won't also enrich the nation?

The point is that parties and individuals with very low approval ratings can still win government and govern effectively. You seem to have missed that though.

The dagos wogs or whatever you wish to call them came here in an orderly fashion. Apart from the ten pound Poms all other Europeans paid their own way here aboard ships that were used exclusively for immigrants. I was on one such ship. The population then was less than 12 million, now it's over 21 million and this country cannot sustain a population much above say a max of 30 million. I suggest you read a book written by that great Aussie who truly cares for this country, Dick Smith about what can happen with overpopulation.
