1930s

There is a foot-bridge just visible in the background top left of that picture. It was for pedestrians to get from Erskineville to Newtown. My Dad was born in 1930 and lived the first twenty years of his life in a house not more than 50 yards from the Erskineville end of that bridge.

I also lived near there for a while not quite so long ago. (Also Surry Hills and Chippendale at other times.

Looking across Redfern Station towards the city of Sydney. The Eveleigh Workshops are directly behind the camera[/B]

I went through there twice today. I do it every day to and from work.

Bloody small world, eh? Until I was about eight and we moved to the Shire we lived in Livingstone Road, Petersham, about 2 clicks or so the other side of Newtown. My sister lived in St Johns Road, Glebe for a while when she was a nurse at RPAH.

In Sydney I only lived in Glebe (until about 4 years old) and then Chippendale. As a kid, I learnt how to shoplift at Grace Brothers. Not much else.

My father lived in Glebe for a while. St John's Road actually and I really used to enjoy my time there. Good times as a kid.

:bgrin:

I'm off to Sanity at Greensborough tomorrow to pick up my pre-ordered copy.

Escaping the clutches of Stock, Aitken and Waterman was her smartest move, although she's always happily acknowledged that without them she'd still be little Charlene Robinson, the apprentice mechanic from Erinsborough.

You know I was really unimpressed when she released this. At the time it felt like, whats the most obvious song we could have a hit with. But her subsequent career proves she really did have the talent and maybe the spin doctors should have had more faith in her ability.

I thought she was crap once too. Michael Hutchence's favourite hobby of "corrupting Kylie" paid off.

Wife and I visiting Australia Jan-Feb 2013. By cruise ship so will just get a taste. Ending up in Perth for three days. Supposed to be a big art festivile there.

Really looking forward to this. Been a dream trip of ours for 20 years.

Keep the lights on.

It is a wonderful journey, you will love it :) Australia is the best.

As with all cruises, try to avoid those who cough and sneeze. Keeping virus free on a cruise is a challenge.

Please try to keep this jingoistic fluff in the Community threads. This is HL&A.

Please take this platitudinous nonsense to a more appropriate thread.
