Atheists Unbless Highway in FL.

So - a link. A link from a news outlet. That's a goal? "Started to clarify relations"?

Not much of a goal, if you ask me, but I'll drop it because I actually haven't followed the case very closely.
A county based humanist group got it's county leadership to distance themselves from the Christian group. Would do you want? These hand full of people to bring down the Vatican?

This handful of people got national attention. It's a success for crying out loud. I'm at a complete loss as to why atheists want to paint this as a failure or worse.

Goals in a nutshell:
1. Point out that the Christian group asked for non Christians to be incarcerated or exiled.
2. Point out that the Christian group has implicit and explicit ties to the local government which need to be clarified (at least).

I'm not clear on whether the demonstrators also brought up the case of a local atheist who has been arrested repeatedly or whether the reporter researched that separately.
(snip)
Worthwhile goals.

But for those who didn't look into the background of this story (and more people scan headlines than read stories), the subtext reads "intolerant atheists wash away simple blessing from road in an attack on religion."

It certainly drew more attention than simply writing a letter to the local news editor, right?

So did the pilot who went crazy on that JetBlue flight.

How else would you suggest this ridiculousness and antagonism be brought to the limelight?

You mean that Christian group blessing roads and burying bricks and praying that anyone who drives on the blessed roads should become Christian or get arrested? I wouldn't be trying to give such puerile nonsense any limelight.
