One of my good friends all but worships Michael Patton. He's not totally my cup of tea, but the dude's voice is dynamic and hard to recognize in some of the many forms he chooses to sing.

Meh, Martin had been absent ever since his near-zero input into Angel Dust.

AFAICT, Martin was happier playing in a Black Sabbath tribute band than being an active member of one of the world's most inventive bands. He simply couldnt pull his own (sizable) weight musically.

They did much better stuff (KFAD, AOTY) after his departure.

They also asked him to appear on the latest tour for a gig or 2 (Chuck Mosley actually appeared and sang along side Patton for a gig) but he declined.

Mike Patton is actually a pretty good fit for the R&P forum :)

I dont like much of his weirder stuff: I like some of Mr Bungle, and Peeping Tom is pretty listenable. I know some people worship everything he does, but he always struck me as one of those lunatics who needs a stabilising influence like he had with FNM. Without it, usually it's just pure noise.

What did you expect?

I've run into countless Christian fundies who behave as if being a Christian means that (1) no matter what they or their loved ones do, it can not be wrong; and (2) that if anyone else claims atheism, agnosticism, or any religion other than Christianity, it is a personal attack on each and every Christian.

I feel no sympathy for Billy Ray or his family.
 
I'd like to put up a billboard on that atheist section of LA freeway:

"Don't give your money to God or the church, Buy Billy Ray Cyrus' Latest Album: "Achy Breaky Faith*"

TODAY!"

Let's see him complain about that one.


*Or whatever it is called. If he's still recording and not just metaphoring out his daughter...

Attack him? I would do that if it would mean being able to go to a gun rights rally without having to hear his song "Proud to Be an American".

Sure, it's a patriotic song. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

I'm fairly sure that is not a Billy Ray Cyrus song. (I'm thinking Lee Greenwood, maybe.)
