That Michelle Obama thread is really turned into a lulz farm. i'm liking Setar's post on page 4 where, in an effort to get his share of the victim pie, he asserts that poster BillHamp is being mean to him because BillHamp should know everything about Setar, including what Setar's avatar means and, I dunno, treat him with, ugh, more positive attention.

As an aside...I have Stephanie Zvan's blog open in another tab and I'm looking at an ad that says "Male Gamers Only". It's an ad for something called Wartune and is really funny when juxtaposed with the content of the blog.

In other news, Onamission5 is lamenting the idea that the directors at CFI won't care that the "major supporters" who are withdrawing their support for CFI are women. No mention of these major supporters being FtBers.

You're quite right, either one agrees wholeheartedly with everything on A+ (and to a lesser extent FTB)- even the bits which contradict the other bits- or one is a misogynist.

Well done for pointing this out, just ignore the women who disagree with this position, why should their voices matter?

The idea to give someone an ultimatum is absolutely juvenile. It did not work with Watson, and now, did not work with Marcotte. Worst, it puts their friends and supporters in untenable position. Should Hemsley quit CFI in support of Marcotte? Marcotte's boycott does not cost her anything, but for Hemsley, it is her job. At TAM, last year, it was a bit awkward for SGU to be there without Watson.

I thought "hispanic" was more of a cultural term rather than a racial one? Or has it taken on a racial component because "white" means basically "Non-Mediterranean European" in the US?

To be honest my opinion of Marcotte is so low that the "stupider" side is the one she's in.

That link to Watson's blog gives me only a header bar and a blank page. However, a page of nothing is probably the most intelligent thing Watson has said in many a day.

How not to solve social problems:

1.) Lump people who disagree with you on some issues into the same categories as members of groups that are diametrically opposed to your position.
2.) Dismiss arguments against your position based on criteria that you would not want used against yourself.
3.) Use hyperbole in your characterization of the “Other Side”.
4.) Use sarcasm.
5.) When meanings are not clear assume the worst possible intent from the opposition.
6.) Start adding on issues that are at best indirectly related to your root cause that will undermine your own support.
7.) Continuously seeking new controversies without previously trying to resolve old issues.
8.) Conflating arguments against your position as arguments against the wider group.
9.) Assuming that comments by anonymous people on the internet can be counted on as wide spread opinions.
10.) Failing to examine the motives of those that claim to be on your side. If income is derived from “The Movement” then what is the business model?

The above list can be used to determine if a person is really interested in solving problems or exploiting the issues to play social politics for personal gain.

There are real issues pointed out by our would be SJWs. I am sure there are sexist elements that need to be dealt with. But they appear to be incompetent at addressing them and/or corrupted by short term profit motive.
