I think it would be so easy as to be pointless. It would just be another by the numbers identical parrot.

I'd also have serious ethical issues with doing it, for the same reason that I've issues with A+. There are a lot of vulnerable people reading the group, and they get treated like crap. As a group, they really don't care about the damage they do.

Social justice seems to relish in that kind of behavior. Sitting behind the keyboard eyes flashing, mouth foaming while you pound out your rage and anger against society onto the keyboard....

If I wanted to troll, social justice is where I'd head to rain down moral hellfire on the unworthy.

It would be interesting to go in there as a twoofer.

A trannnnnnny twoofe,r from, transexual,,,, transyl-vain-e-a ha ha

Whose experienced discrimination at the hands of the privileged patriarchal twoofer hierarchy and let loose the crazy. ;)

It's actually quite difficult to get banned on JREF. You really have to work at it. I was insulted on my first post here by a woman whose name I now can't recall. She broke the rules for years IIRC, and had to finally almost force them to kick her out.

Articulett?

I didn't know what westprog was talking about with "parting shots," so I found their banned users list. Unbelievable. Trolling as moderation.

It's almost like performance art.

Here's a fun and useful bit of terminology we can nick from their playbook. When a religious nutjob tiresomely goes off on a fallacious argument that we've seen demolished a hundred times, can we say the nutjob is godsplaining to us? As in "Just what we need, another fundie godsplaining to us that his sky daddy really, really loves the people he condemns to eternal torture."

ETA: I see someone has beaten me to it.

That's it. Though I don't want to have a go at someone who's banned and can't answer back. That's a bit A+-ish.

I'll have a go at her: She was great! I had some private discussions with her. She is very smart and fun to chat with. It was a sad day for the JREF when she left.

Soggymog claims that A+ is over and gone.

Her restrained use of language is masterful.

It was petty, small-minded, vicious, dogmatic, hypocritical, exclusionary, dishonest, irrational, selfish, uncaring and deeply, deeply sexist. We shall not miss it, but we are wiser for having known it.

why is it suddenly dead? i only see bloggers linking to bloggers saying its dead. the a+ forum is still going strong, isnt it? any specifics?

It is not dead till PZ says it is dead. Even if A+ faq says that there is no leader, the discourse and direction of A+ are all PZ. I suspect that he is getting tired of it, and now is looking for another "challenge".

I never understood this idea. To my knowledge, PZ never made very many public statements about A+, other than to support it and snipe at their opponents a few times. There's never really been any leadership or planning, especially not from PZ.

the split maybe is starting?

watch this space...

My, that forum sure is...red...

FFS. What's wrong with "secular humanism", people? There are already secular, atheist groups working on social justice. Besides which, the "safe space" is part of A+, and without it, it's not A+ anymore. You just have...atheists talking about social justice, just like on multiple other forums. I don't know why anyone would want to start a splinter group, anyway, though. At this point, the A+ brand has been so ruined, anybody seriously attempting to do any social justice work would steer clear of it.

If, on the other hand, you just want to create more drama, this is exactly what you would do. Since it apparently enrages plussers whenever anybody creates unsanctioned, unofficial A+ forums, this could be amusing.

I understand your point. Mine is more circumstantial evidence based. A lot of the discourse is the same as in the comment section of his blog (and of most FtB I guess). There is certainly no planning, that is for sure, but I see his modus operandi in the way it operates; the berating of people, the banning, the aggressiveness. I am not saying that he is the only one, but as one of a leaders of the radical side of atheism, if he says that this movement is moribund, who ever is left will disappear.
