I'm gonna try not to think about that one too hard...
Is it a social justice movement or an self-help group?

IIRC, the button thing dates from the Victorian era when women who could afford clothing with lots of buttons to be done up would have had a maid to help them dress - button's on women's clothing were put on the left to make that easier.Would you believe:
"Because I am woman I can't go out without strange men wanting to spend time with me and potentially sexually assault me"
The last part i a bit of a non-sequitur really. But the first part: Really? Men want to spend time with you? Poor lamb.
Same person also put:
"Because I am woman I have to wear buttons on a side that makes it easier for men to undress me"
Umm...
This is another reason that people are reticent to throw their weight behind A+. The danger of finding yourself in a group with joyless weirdos who expend more effort looking for reasons to take offense than they do in actually empowering themselves.
I'm guessing that around June of next year, most of them will be updating their blogs on why they are boycotting TAM.

...the International Council for Oppressing Women....
I think the most frequent A+ fallacy is labeling. If they can label you, they get to dismiss what you say without having to show how your argument is faulty. Let's start a list:
misogynist
tone troll
privileged
Jaquing off
rape apologist
chill girl
queen bee...
ICOW? Talk about herd mentality...
No, no you have it wrong it needs to be iCow TM
I don't believe it's any easier to unbutton a button on the left than a button on the right, but I see several people repeating it as though it's peer-reviewed. Are you all just having a laugh, or am I missing something?
Looks like brainstorming on things to complain about, which then turned into a bragging contest about who is most ******-up.Plussers sharing how their lack of privilege harms them, in which we learn that "gifted" people are an oppressed class: http://atheismplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=740
They don't seem able to distinguish between what is a result of discrimination, and what is simply a legitimate consequence of certain attributes.

An oppressed person found out that skepticism is a mental illness. Hence I'm oppressed too and cannot possibly be held responsible for anything I do. Bazinga!Trigger warning sarcasm:
Sorry, but the fact that you can use such a pejorative word as "brainstorming" when you know that there may be people with epilepsy reading demonstrates the lack of consideration you've given to your post. There's clearly no point in conversing with such a douchebag.
It's the opposite of empowerment; they are victimizing themselves before anyone else can. I guess for them that's better somehow.
