Ask a Muslim anything

You can always find a sect that does things differently.

There's even a Jewish sect that denies the Holocaust.

So what?

It furthers the scope of the discussion rather than killing it, thats what. Jinn came here for discussion, and the lot of you drove him away like so many others, thats what. It that the goal?

You don't know what drove him away, he hasn't come back to explain his absence.

Maybe there were simply too many questions, and he didn't have time to answer them all.

Maybe he's on vacation.

Maybe he got bored and doesn't care to answer the questions anymore.

Maybe he's dead.

Maybe he's now an atheist.

Maybe you folks can't own up to driving away someone who wanted discussion and encountered bigotry

Maybe he got arrested.

Maybe there's death in his family.

Maybe his internet has been disconnected.

Maybe he can't use the internet during Ramadan.

Maybe his girlfriend broke up with him and he's on a ledge somewhere.

Maybe he's in the hospital with a huge hernia.

Maybe he can't use his fingers anymore and has to re-learn how to type with his toes.

Maybe he won the lottery.

Maybe he wasn't really a Muslim.

Maybe he thought he didn't know enough about his religion and thought he needed more time to research.

Maybe he got stuck under a tractor.

Maybe his house caught on fire.

I'm just saying there are multiple explanations for his absence, there's no reason to assume he felt bullied or was driven away.

Yeah fasting is used pre surgery in some cases, 12 hours doesnt seem excessive, uncomfortable perhaps, hardly life threatening.
.
And before getting any blood work done.
I'll be fasting Sunday evening to Monday morning... again.. :)

What if their kid tuns out to be gay?

i still welcome them here, that is within the laws :)

but i think i know what you mean.
and i guess that would be a problem to many Muslim parents, but they have to stick to our laws. But there are in my city public debates exactly about that.
it belongs to the process of integration. it is a somewhat problematic topic, but sofar i am not aware of Children being abused or even killed for being gay. which is against our law.

also they have to watch what they preach, callups to violence are agaisnt the law.

The problem is that they stop being "kind loving parents" when something occurs that goes against their religious beliefs, and that can be said of every religion.

Being a kind loving parent is a human attribute. Unlike turtles we evolved to care for our young. It has nothing to do with religion.

that is indeed a problem and has to be worked on, and is currently being worked on.

btw, i didnt want to attribute the loving and caring to be something religious. it is indeed human i think, and religions promotes unhuman behavior in those cases, but i am not sure what percentage of Muslims or other religions accept and love their gay kids anyway, i guess this is most problematic among Muslims, but dunno if that is factual. but i think it is that way.

The only way for this problem to be worked out is for people to slowly let go of their religion, or to reinterpret it so much as to make it become unrecognizable.

I know a lapsed JW whose father disowned her.
Watching some of the public hangings in Iran of gays, there are some genuinely distraught people there.
I'd say they're the parents.
Not all Muslims are haters.
