Just changed my reservation to arrive on Wednesday instead of Thursday. WTH, it's another $100 for the change and $65 more the extra night.

For those who wanted rides from the airport on Thursday, never fear--I'll still make pickup and in a way it will be easier, you won't have to wait until I get the van. I'll PM you all later.

We'll just take a taxi probably, but any taxi worries I need to know?

My taxi driver last year was very honest. He picked me up at the airport and gave me two choices:

1) Take the shortest route, via The Strip. It will cost you $10, but take 45 minutes.

2) Take the quickest route via the freeway. It will cost you $20, but take 5 minutes.

I chose #2. He was right.

Would recommend a shuttle service if you're not in a hurry--cheaper, but may stop at 3-5 other hotels on the way.

Taxis are OK in Vegas, if you want to sound like a saavy traveller, tell the cabdriver "The Stardust and NOT by the Tunnel". From what I have heard, some cabbies go via a tunnel that actually heads away from the Strip and adds $4-5 to the fare. Saying that shows you are on to them--or so I have heard.


Edited to add--sounds like Scrut may know best. I'd go with his recommendation.

But it serves a double purpose. 1) Means of transportation to the hotel; 2) Sightseeing tour.

For just 5 bucks?. Ideal.

I took one of those shuttles for TAM 2. They may stop at 3-5 other hotels, IF YOU'RE LUCKY! The one I was on, while only costing $4, must have stoped at 15 hotels, and mine was second to last. That's an hour and 15 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

I had the shuttle drop me off at Harrah's during TAM2, because it was less far to walk than to sit out the rest of the tour ...
