Arrest Coming in Chandra Levy Case

But.....but.......the media made it clear that Condit had to be guilty in some way! Don't tell me they ruined his career for nothing!

Months after the remains of her body were found, the Washington Post ran a story that said there was strong circumstantial evidence tying the murder to a guy already in prison. The story didn't say in so many words, but suggested strongly that because the DC police had botched the investigation, they wouldn't be able to prove it in court, even though they were sure they had the right guy. Sounds like they may have turned up new evidence.

Please. Blame the press. Gary Condit was shamed and humiliated in public for cheating on his wife with a much younger woman. Suspicion of the general public fell on him for being an untrustworthy, shady dealer, and naturally so. But can you point me to one source, one reporter who accused Condit of her murder?

I'd like to see the proof of the slam you make on the press, who apparently earn your ire because they report the facts. Don't shoot the messenger, the guy is a sleaze and we're better off knowing that about our elected officials. His conduct wrecked his career.

I think that would be covered under having the affair, lying about the affair and denying having any information about anything . Made him appear suspicious. Bad thing to do if you are not guilty (or are, for that matter).
 
I always suspected that Condit would not be quite so stupid as to kill Levy. But the guy was a total jerk and richly deserved having his political career terminated in any case.

Perhaps I'm biased because my family were friends with the Condit's, Gary's parents not him, but at the time most people, at least locally, suspected he must have something to do with the murder because his name came up every time the media mentioned the case. To us it seemed way unfair.
