So because he hasn't acted fast enough for you, he is anti-gay?
It is my belief that he won't act at all. Time will tell.

No he was a libertarian.

Okay, so he is anti-gay because you are predicting a future inaction. That clears things up.
I would say that a lot Americans are opposed to more taxes because they think the government is incompetent and already gets enough of our money to waste. They see many large government run programs unsuccessful or severely lacking in their stated goals vs results. The ones that do work are trillions in debt. At least that's my take. Plus you will likely get vastly different answers regarding this based on the state the person is from. If you tell someone from California, NY, or NJ to pay more taxes they might have an aneurysm.
There's a problem with that though: you're paying far lower taxes now than you did, say, fifty or sixty years ago. Or at least, that's true for the top tax brackets.
So you are saying that we should be grateful for the government not taking more of the money we earn? You don't know US taxpayers very well. Most of us view taxes as a necessary evil that should be paid reluctantly and avoided if possible and that government should have to live on what we give it or justify the need for more. There's a problem with that though: you're paying far lower taxes now than you did, say, fifty or sixty years ago. That fits me to a tee. I keep waiting for the damn Republicans to get away from the fundies, and to embrace science, but they won't.
Yet most conservatives these days have a disdain in general for the Constitution.
If the "Fundies" desert the GOP it is a dead party. Prior to the Christian Right the democrats had been in power for 40 years. I agree that the CR has held too much sway but to drive them away is electoral suicide for the GOP.They better. Sarah Palin proved that catering to the fundies is a losing proposition. There is a fight for the heart of the republican party – should they become real conservatives (which they haven't been in a very long time) or keep catering to the fundies. If they opt for the former, they will thrive. If they go for the latter they'll become a marginal party with little power.
"These Days" being the key term.
Historically, Classical Liberals and Classical Conservatives wanted the mostly the same things but disagree on how to get them. But these days Liberals are big government become socialists, Conservatives are big government fascists, and they are both more interested in gaining power and money than actually solving any problems.
