Are Jackson Pollock's Paintings Art?

Thanks, I would be interested in looking into that book. Does it contain any research from linguists such as Lakoff, Fillmore, Langacker and Tomasello?

There is one publication by Lackoff in the the references section and one by Fillmore. Two by Wittgenstein. None by Langacker or Tomasello. The focus is mainly on the experimental psychology literature as opposed to linguistics or philosophy. Chapter 2 is probably the section most relevant to this thread. In particular, the research of Eleanor Rosch and those who followed in her footsteps. This was my primary research focus when I was studying psychology. Though I was more focused on the study of well-defined category learning, such as the classic Shepard, Hovland and Jenkins (SHJ) types.

There's an exhibition of art from the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo coming to Milwaukee this summer featuring some of Pollock's paintings.

I'll check it out and report back.

Nice.

I saw a Cy Twombly exhibit (plus some other artists like Andy Warhol and Mike Kelley) just a couple days ago. I wasn't familiar enough with Twombly's work before hand enough to give a "better in person" verdict, but I did enjoy much of what I saw.
