Spiderman is real since the Empire State Building exists.
And King Kong.

Based on the above factors, the Oxford Archaeological Guide to the Holy Land concludes: "Is this the place where Christ died and was buried? Very probably, Yes."

I would be very interested in this study. My current beliefs (agnosticism) is based on the fact? that the Christian bible copied a lot of Egyptian Mythology. I should have some spare time next week, assuming I have internet access (I think I will). I'll PM you so you have a record of my name. Are you just intentionally ignoring what I've posted? None of those are accurate correlations. From a much earlier post refuting not only those claims, but many of the common ridiculous claims for the Horus-Jesus connection, this is The Jesus/Horus similarity claims, broken down:....
I don't think we should use bible quotes - they are only fiction. The authors were certainly NOT eyewitnesses and as there were no verifiable eyewitnesses, the bible would not be accepted as evidence in a court of law.
Well, whether Gospel writers Matthew and John are eyewitnesses is up for debate, and I've already mentioned how Luke has been called one of the world's great historians -- and I assume you believe these men died for fiction.

After dedicating some time to read this entire thread, I nominate cainkane1. Even if we prove (by a method the majority agrees upon and by whatever means necessary) that some of the stores in the bible are true, that doesn't mean the entire bible is true.I don't see how archaeology can prove someone walked on water or made a blind man see.

Well it has been said on several sites that Luke's writings {Book of Acts} converted archaeologist Sir William Mitchell Ramsay. Why, were any of them archeologists? You know, like the topic of this thread?
GreNMe,
What are you doing in the slammer?![]()
I have seen that table somewhere. At my age my memory ain't what it used to be. Could you please give the link for that.
I have a lot of work to do on this. I am open minded about most of this except that I totally reject a "god" and the divinity of Jesus. I got too much crap from the Roman Catholic Church which is one reason why I gave it up.
As far as my friend is concerned I lost touch with him when the MSN Groups were shut down. (no, I'm not making an excuse). I could be interested in you offer. I do have a translation of the Papyrus of Ani. As far as Hieroglyphs re concerned I do have the book "Middle Egyptian" by James P. Allen, but I do find it somewhat hard. I have not really gotten into it. I also have the "Inscribe" editor from Saqqara Technologies, but have not done much with it.
I certainly would be doing what I want to do - keep learning to keep my brain active. My mother died after getting Alzheimers, and on Monday my best old friend went the same way. One must keep the brain active. Dunno how politicians get on.
So the fact that the famous historian (Josephus) was married in Egypt and also went on a trip to Egypt with the Roman Emperor is of no relevance to you when Josephus writes about Egyptian history?
That there were indeed 1st century tombs (dug out of rock) just outside one of the gates of Jerusalem.
Well it has been said on several sites that Luke's writings {Book of Acts} converted archaeologist Sir William Mitchell Ramsay.
Wasn't Luke's Census story called complete nonsense by the Dominican Priest, Father J. Murphy-O'Conner.Well it has been said on several sites that Luke's writings {Book of Acts} converted archaeologist Sir William Mitchell Ramsay.
I was married in Texas and have been to England, so does that mean any damn fool thing I choose to say about Texas or England is true?
They never affected our calenders {AD. and BC}.
