Application Proposal - Mental Telepathy

Considering what kind of loons you have to deal with here, it's no surprise some people have attitudes. Good job Gulliver for giving him at least a fair chance, not that it was worth your effort. :/

Hah! Wrote 3 responses at 3 different times because the site was down and my browser decides to post them all? My apologies.

You do realise that when you fail (as you will in the extremely unlikely event that you turn up for a test) we are going to take you to pieces very publicly?

On the other hand, if you manage what you say, you'll be a filthy rich international megastar!

I don't think thats fair - if he does actually show up for a test, he'll be worthy of, and given, much respect.

If he fails (and comes back to talk aboot it) he'll be treated very gently with lots of people on-hand to offer consolation and, more importantly, advice and help to understand why his 'powers' didn't work. (By which I mean offering non-woo explanations for the feelings and effects, rather than the usual cop-outs such as "gold leaf on the books" and so forth)

You're right, of course. When Achau Nguyen took and failed the preliminary test, he was treated with courtesy and respect. At first he simply said, "I failed. No excuses." Later, however, he began to complain that his hand-chosen assistant didn't try hard enough....

Due to commitments we were unable to agree on including ourselves for testing with Gulliver. This is unfortunate but we will still be attending the appropriate arrangement for tests with Australian Skeptics in February.

Not even time for a simple e-mail, Dargo?

Give me a break.

Sorry, mate, but no way.

These twats can sit at home and take a real test very simply themselves to figure out that they're talking crap, but they never do.

I have zero respect level for these people and will treat them accordingly. The kid gloves suit some situations, but people who think they're telepathic, nope. If he's got mental health issues, then he shoudl go see a doctor, fast. Other than that, he's just a puller and deserves to be treated accordingly.

Dargo, as you probably now know, Randi will change the nature of his challenge on April 1st. After that date, you will no longer be eligible to apply because you will not meet the "media profile" requirement. But the old rules will be in effect until April. Given this, can/will you apply for Randi's challenge before April?

Yes, but, hasn't either Randi or Jeff already stated that a winner of one of the many smaller skeptical challenges would qualify? If Dargo is, as he claims, preparing for a test with a recognised skeptical society in Australia, we should await the results of that before we condemn him further, should we not?

I am in no way condemning Dargo. And, yes, I believe Jeff and Randi have said that successful completions of certain other tests might qualify the applicant for TMC. However, waiting for Dargo to successfully complete his testing in Australia will be a long wait, indeed. So, I'm pressing the issue and urging Dargo to submit an application before the April 1st deadline, regardless of his success or failure in Australia. Time is now of the essence. (Ditto for your question in the other thread, Gr8.)

As in "don't hold your breath." The same goes for any application to the JREF. I certainly don't expect one to be forthcoming...ever. However, I consider this badgering of potential applicants to be no more than pounding one's head against a wall. I far prefer to wait until such time as Dargo either fails an official test, or fails to show up for one, and then call him out for what he is.

You lost the Gulliver Challenge. You failed by forfeit.

I considered Dumb All Over's post to be no badgering, but a simple yes or no inquiry.

It seems warranted, given Dargo's forum history, to remind him of the reason he came here in the first place. After all, we would not want a self-proclaimed shamath ("100% accuracy") to miss out on the mil, would we?
