Apollo 11 Moon Landing Revisited: Hoax ~vs~ Debunk

"He wanted to spend more time with his family,"

I don't know, but I've been told.
This is the post that you replied to with "Watergate was the official reason":
To update your score cards:

Richard Nixon couldn't hide his connection to the Watergate break-in, a plot involving 7 men, or hide our invasions of Laos and Cambodia, involving thousands of men (not counting the other side, who also caught on because, you know, B-52s). But he somehow managed to fake the moon landings with none of the 400,000 people involved, or any of his cabinet, or close advisors - all who have written books about everything else Nixon did, ever speaking out.

Stars should have been visible on the Apollo photos, even with the wrong exposure settings, because some grifter wrote a book published by a company whose other books are about Bigfoot, ghosts, fairies, JFK-UFO conspiracies, Egyptian curses which should call into question his authenticity, but in this case he's somehow correct even with the lack of evidence.

Going to the moon is too dangerous.

Those who question this new gold standard of logic are bullies.

What has "He wanted to spend more time with his family," got to do with any of that?

SCENE: The lunar surface. Neil Armstrong (NA) and Buzz Aldrin (BA) – for it is they – are collecting rocks.

<Fx: phone rings.>

BA: What the-? Can you answer that, Neil?

NA: I’m the Commander around here. You answer it and that’s an order!

BA (sulkily): I’m doing it! Hello? Apollo eleven, Buzz Aldrin speaking.

<fx crackly radio voice>:: Houston, here. We have a call from your President.

NIXON (for it is he): Good evening, Gentlemen! …Or should I say Good Morning <chuckles>

BA: Hello? Hello? Whom am I speaking to?

NIXON: Hello? It's the President of the USA here. Can you hear me?

BA: Just about, Sir. How can I help you?

NIXON: I just wanted to give you a word salad about 'Peace and Tranquility' so that I can give you boys the honour of sharing the glory with you –

BA to NA, hand over the receiver: Holy ◊◊◊◊! It’s Tricky Dicky.

NA: Tell him I’ll call him back -

THIRD PARTY VOICE – So I was down the launderette, and her next door comes along –

BA: Who’s this..?

THIRD PARTY VOICE – Sorry, Mo, looks like I’ve got a crossed line -

NIXON: TALKING!!!

<fx click burr>

BA: Hang on. Sir, just got to get it under my helmet – whoops!

<Clatter> ◊◊◊◊ ◊◊◊◊ bollocks, I’ve dropped the receiver!

Hang on a mome....

NA: That's another fine mess you've got me into.
OK, you've made up a load of crap. What evidentiary value does it have?

I understand that people feel very strongly about something they've looked all their lives as being a great moment in history. But in a reasoned debate, one would have hoped people would have put away their fears. The salient argument appears to be:

  1. Anyone questioning it is 'pissing on people's graves'
  2. 400,000 people cant have covered it up
  3. Nobody has yet 'confessed' on their deathbed.
Oh, Vixen! You do love your strawman, don't you?

You're forgetting* the part about virtual every engineer and physicist all over the world for the last fifty-seven years maintaining a unanimously consensus that Apollo really happened exactly as presented.

You're also forgetting* that we've seen your ignorance of engineering and physics, as well as photography, mathematics and numerous other subjects, laid bare by your own words.

*(Desperately ignoring)

So, I'll leave you to it.
What, again?

Depends how high.
You have to keep them out of the Van Allen belts for real, so LEO where Gagarin had orbited. A CSM/LM stack is huge. It would be the biggest and brightest thing orbiting until 1971 when the Soviets launch their first space station. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, "satellite spotting" was a thing. There simply weren't very many satellites, so it was a kind of hobby to see if you spot them all flying over. These were trash-bin sized spacecraft and still seen from Earth with the naked eye. And the CSM/LM stack was observed in LEO when it was legitimately in LEO as part of the checkout before heading to the Moon. People even observed Apollo 10's translunar injection burn from Earth's surface.

No, you can't hide something by putting it in low Earth orbit.

Your "authority," Bill Kaysing, didn't actually know much about science or space or astronomy even though he worked for a prominent rocket engine company. He was a librarian. He didn't care that his book was scientifically implausible. He didn't think many people would take it seriously.

The ISS can be visible sometimes because it is only 250 - 400 miles up.
250 miles or about 400 kilometers. You really have no clue what you're talking about.

A thirsty man will drink from a finger bowl and be refreshed. The fool will worry about what the neighbours think. His body was found parched and shrivelled up on the pathway, with the neighbours stepping over him.

An idiot will drink from the finger bowl when there is a perfectly legitimate glass of water sitting next to it on the table, with a sign on it that says "For drinking". Even worse, the idiot will forego the water in the glass for the finger bowl because "That sign is from the government, and Nixon is a snake!"

Damn, you beat me to what would have been my only substantive contribution here :) 250-400 miles would be one hell of an altitude variation. It actually varies between about 230-290 miles (370-460km). I think it used to be allowed to go lower in the past for resupply missions, but they don't need to do that any more as the resupply vehicles have evolved.

The fool will drink from the finger bowl, and then spend months arguing that they didn't, and anyway it's a wine glass.
It’s not a finger bowl I drank from, its a soup bowl.
…
Also, I never drank from any soup bowl or finger bowl in the restaurant that occasion, that’s a scurrilous accusation.
…
And please remind me on which occasion I drank from the finger bowl and the context in which I did so, Ive forgotten ever being at that restaurant.
…
Besides, can’t you can just Google it, or go to your local library to understand why I drank from the finger bowl that time in the restaurant.
…
Of course I never drank from the finger bowl, Im an experience haute cuisine gourmet who knows the ins and outs of fine dining, I would never be so déclassé as to drink from the finger bowl!
…
And that was actually a wine glass I drank from anyway, not a finger bowl.
…
Ok, yes, I drank from the finger bowl thinking it was a soup bowl, but its rude to point that out, you should have joined me in drinking from the finger bowl. Sheesh!
…
Etc. Ad nauseum. NOTA BENE, Kimo sabe?
