AP News: "Let's go, Brandon" is really code for "**** Joe Biden"

Where you equally as outraged when Bob DeNiro blessed the Tony Awards with his "**** Trump" speech? Is Bob DeNiro equivalent to your apple-juice-spitting toddler too?

Well, no, because I understand context.
Of course not, because you're a partisan collectivist ideologue, who only deals in double standards.

Which is another interesting thing about the right. One way to excuse deplorable behavior and opinions is by framing any sort of discretion or moral standards as being hypocrisy.

The right wing embrace of nihilism only seems surprising until one reflects that the whole point of conservativism is to conserve power structures and every seemingly moral stance they have ever taken has been to further that end.

She could have ignored the chants, acknowledged them with a laugh, or done virtually anything else other than lie about them in an attempt to gaslight the audience. She went the clowntard route instead, and that is precisely why this is a meme now.

This is how they acknowledge it with a laugh. There is some deep irony here that you seem to be very triggered about what amounts to a standard coded joke.

This might be one of the dumbest arguments I've seen on this board. While was almost certainly just doing her best to not offend the FCC.

That's pretty much it. While there is a aspect of misdirection there a lot of this is avoiding dead air by continuing to speak. Usually this sort of thing gets completely avoided by use of the delay and adjusting crowd microphones, but when all else fails they go for this silly misdirection ploy that fools nobody but at least they are talking over it a bit and maybe waking someone up in the production truck.

I mean, it isn't like the sound goes dead when a golfer misses a short putt by coincidence. I guess that is political gaslighting because an awful lot of golfers are Republicans and something or other who knows.

You are welcome to explain how these are similar.

If someone gave a speech where as part of that they said "******* Joe Biden." I'm going to not care much. I mean, I share the sentiment and could be the person giving the speech, just I'm guessing for different reasons than these people seem to have.

Chanting it in public, putting it on bumper stickers, and making up coded references so they can think they are clever is not this.

Back during the 2004 election when it seemed like WV might be in play Bush visited Charleston. Part of his path from the airport was across a bridge very close to my office. Seeing the public interest tends to attract left leaning people, many of my collogues were critical of the President. They put in the windows up on the 11th floor letters that spelled out "Bush Sucks."

I though that was poor behavior. I still do. That is more in line with this, even though that lacks this juvenile secret code stuff which would make it even more puerile.

(Also, before the motorcade went across a bridge about 200m from our windows the secret service searched every inch of the building. So whoever thinks it is at all notable that they care about that whole AR-15 stuff is pretty clueless about how all this works. )

Watched the season opener for the Oregon State men's basketball team last night (go beavs!). At one point the crowd changed ******** because they didn't like the call. The announcers only said that the crowd disagreed with the call. And crowd sound went down in the mix.Obviously, the PAC 12 network is part of the NWO

I know what I heard, and what most non-liars heard, so I can make a reasonable assumption about what she heard.

So you're going this route, are you? Tell me, what is your estimate of the probability that everyone else heard "**** Joe Biden", and that Stavast heard "Lets go Brandon". Express it as a percentage.

I know what I heard, and I know what (virtually?) everyone else heard, so I can make the reasonable assumption that someone who is in the communication business and in the same vicinity under the same conditions heard the same thing. This has nothing to do with paranoia, it has to do with simple abductive reasoning. I don't feel victimized or triggered at all, you're the one who belongs to the ideology of victimization. The whole situation is hilarious, because of how stupid it is, and how stupid Stavast thought everyone was, in that moment.

In a nutshell: you know what YOU heard. You do NOT know what SHE heard.

I know what I heard: Something I wasn't sure of at first until I listened more closely a few times.

You know what YOU think. You do NOT know what SHE thought.

I'm not the one claiming to know what SOMEONE ELSE THINKS OR HEARD or KNOWS. That would be YOU.

Sheesh.

It must be comforting for you and Tippit to believe you know what and why people do what they do or don't do, what they heard, thought, etc.

Trump has given his opinion on the matter:

When the crowd chanted “Let’s Go Brandon!” he joked, “I still like the first phrase better, somehow more accurate.”

He added of the NASCAR mix-up by the NBC reporter Kelli Stavast, “I still haven’t figured out was that young, attractive female reporter was she trying to cover up? Or was she being nice? Did she not understand what was happening? She works for NBC. So it’s about 94% sure that she knew exactly what she was doing.

Well, there ya have it: if Trump is pushing it as a cover-up, you know that's a lie. That's about the best evidence it wasn't one you can get! Thanks, Warp!

It doesn't go unnoticed that he has to comment on her looks as if that has anything to do with her sports reporting. He would never have commented on a male reporter's looks.

"I still haven’t figured out was that young, attractive male reporter..."

Jerk.

It was a simple compliment, imo. Hardly relevant to this discussion. I agree with you that even ugly women can be competent sports reporters, however.

The key thing is, everyone knows she heard the actual chant. As I say though, it is not a big deal that she tried to do damage control.

I saw a brief news item yesterday with a clip of some Congress goober standing behind the mic and uttering this phrase. Another deplorable in office. The coarsening of US societal discourse proceeds apace.

Remember how from 2016 to 2020 anything short of praising the POTUS was called a derangement syndrome by the same people now eager to buy "Let's Go Brandon" merch?

Of course it was just a 'simple compliment' because women being accused of gaslighting, a cover up, and lying are also normally complimented by the same person in the same sentence. :boggled:

Oh my. Not only do you know what Stavast heard, you also know what everyone else heard! Were you born with this super power or did it develop with training?

It is a reasonable assumption from experience of watching college basketball games played at schools whose student sections tend to be a tad rowdy.

Whether this woman honestly misheard this, which lol no, really isn't the point. She definitely was not being nefariously political about rednecks using potty mouth language as that argument is so stupid as to boggle the mind.

Here let me save you some time.

"Remember how the Right do one thing, and then do the exact opposite, and dare us to bring it up because their hypocrisy is a 'I dare you to do something about it' flex they are totally aware of and do on purpose?"

Hurr hurr, you been triggered! *hee haw noises, followed by vacant stare and drooling*

It's been their whole routine. Drops their pants to the ankles and then scream at somebody else because their fly is down even though the other person's fly isn't even down, then fall over trying to run away, land face first in a pile of dog ****, then declare themselves the winner because they are in our heads rent free.

The only problem they are still winning.
