Anyone read Italo Calvino?

I have just finished reading it!!I remembered your suggestion when I saw it in the bookstore the previous week and I bought it.

Excellent book indeed !!!

I haven't read any of his novels, so I don't know how good of a writer he is, although I understand he is very good.

But reading those essays, I realized that he is, just about, the best READER of the 20th century. He knows how to read a classic text much like Mozart knows about music.

It's a bit depressing to realize someone can be SO much better at reading than I would ever be, if I tried for a million years...

I have read somewhere that Italo Calvino is the Philosopher of Literature :)

Skeptic if you have the book handy and you ever are in the mood maybe you should post a couple of quotes from the introduction of the book where he lists what makes a book a classic!

The introduction is beautiful, he talks about thing we all have thought but we are unable to express in our own words!

I recently finished a collection of Italian folktales he compiled. For folks into folktales, it comes with my highest recommondation.
