How many Bigfoots?
Bindernagel: In the thousands.
Meldrum: 500-800 in the Western USA and Canada. If you include the rest of North America including the East and Southeast the number would be 2000-3000. Mentions Appalachia. Interestingly, this means that Meldrum thinks there are more Bigfoots living outside the PNW than within.
Erickson: Bigfoot is everywhere there are forests. Mentions Appalachia. At least 4000, maybe 8000-12000.
Erickson thinks nobody has ever found the bones of a black bear, mountain lion or wolf that has died of natural causes.
I would say that based on the number of sightings, that there are at least 10,000 Bigfoots in the PNW alone.
You see they (the footers) have a dilemma, they have all of these people seeing Bigfoot, yet no bodies. So either there are a lot of people seeing a fairly common creature, and this creature never dies in an accessible spot, or people really aren't seeing a Bigfoot, and there are no bodies to find.
If they inflate the population, then people will have found them, if they underestimate the population, then WHAT EXPLAINS THE SIGHTINGS? I mean these sightings are on dirt roads, in semi-rural areas, not way out in the sticks.
If they limit them to the PNW, then they can't explain the other sightings. However if they allow them to be in OHIO and FLORIDA, and there are no PNW type forest, or BLM areas there. In the PNW they can say, "it is so far in the middle of nowhere" but you can't say that, when you are in a suburb of Columbus OH.
