Anybody know anything about "Awakening to Oneness"?

I doubt anybody here is familiar with the "Awakening into Oneness" movement but I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm checking out their website but haven't found any information on them from any cult watch groups.
My sister is going to India for a "seminar" and is sold on it. I'm just worried shes getting involved with a cult. Some of these new age movements are much more cult like than others which although woo, are relatively harmless and others are serious trouble.

IMHO the cult watch sites are not very good, they are mostly a Christian proselyting tool used to convert you to some form of evangelical nonsense.

There used to be a pretty good site that critically rated various Guru's, which is what you are probably interested in. I'll keep looking.

The orange-paper guy is an angry dude, which I personally find a better attitude to approach these kinds of things. He happens to be angry at AA, but he has some nice questions to ask of any organization that wants your money, time, life, whatever.

A five minute look through 'Awakening' websites reveals a large organization that takes in a huge amount of money. The temple in India is enormous.

Thanks for the links. I think one of the "cult watch" groups is actually owned by the Church of Scientology. Another trusted site is Rick Ross which has very good general information but it doesn't have anything specific to "Awakening to Oneness"

I'll try to look up that old guru list. Did you look through jref archives? I remember this being discussed somewhere a couple years ago.

Is this the same thing as the Oneness Movement, Blessing, Awakening?

'awakening', 'oneness'?

These words are huge red woo flags.

I can't imagine bothering to look into this unless I was trying to save someone from engaging in it.

As is so often true about Scientology, the truth is more bizarre than anything you could make up.

The Cult Awareness Network (CAN) used to be Rick Ross's group. The Church of Scientology sued CAN into bankruptcy, and then bought what was left. The "New CAN" is, indeed, a front for Scientology. The whole crazy story is on Wikipedia.

You got it. I am not interested in saving per se, I just want to view it for what it really is.

Yes, I am familiar with that story. I have sought this kind of information because I suspected that friends of mine were in a Leninist cult. Now, a meditation cult?

I actually awoke to oneness once after a strange night I only half remember. I was lucky and managed to chew off my arm without awaking her and made my escape.

It probably was. They've apparently quit paying for that domain name, awakeningintooneness.org.
