Too often the pompous accusation of antisemitism is used to discredit a persons view.

Based on your numerous antisemitic posts, yes. Pretending otherwise is deceitful.

Interesting how he would exhibit such loathing for a man who stood up to evil.

Why are the Jews the only people, that I know of, who have a derogatory word for people who are not Jewish? Goy

Why are the Jews the only people, that I know of, who have a word for people who supposedly hate them? antisemitic

What is the purpose of these two unique words?
Imprinting of Jewish bigotry?
Seems like a purposeful intent toward conspiratorial exclusivity.

Why would any other group need a derogatory word for gentiles?

Almost every group has an insult for those who are outside of the group and complimentary words for those with in.

That you seem to think Jews are unique in this, or in having a word for those bigots who dislike them is just plain childish.

The homosexual LGBT community have words that fit the bill. As did Nazis, the Imperial English, Americans from the southern states, Arabic cultures, the French, and any other community.

I assume you are trying to defend your antisemitic posts with an equally unsavory post.

Ask yourself if the argument would still be valid if applied to us English.

Why do we have a word for those who are not English "foreign". (Other examples are clear breaches of the MA).
Why do we have a word for those who are of our superior culture: "Limey", (or "Anglo saxon" or "gentleman" or "codger" or "chap").
Why do we have the word Anglophobe or anti-british?

Tomtomkent, I believe Clayton possibly needs to expand his travels. Just like the British, Australia has a whole lexicon in this area. I would go as far as to say an Englishmen and Australian could sit in a room insulting each other with name calling an not repeat a word for hours :)

The term 'antisemitism' was invented by Jew-haters.

You'll find many cultures who have terms for all out-group members.

ancient Greeks - barbarian
Japanese - gaijin
Cantonese - gweilo
Muslims - kafir

On the whole, antisemites seem to use 'goy' more than Jews do these days. Projection much?

Anti-Semitism is equally apllicable to muslims they are deemed to be from the same religious roots.

So you have a go at a muslim you are being anti semetic too.

umm.

No.

Anti-semitism was coined precisely and exclusively to give a 'scientific' veneer to the idea of specifically hating Jews.

Using your "logic" above, any of the Abrahamic religions suffer anti-semitism including, say, Catholicism.

And everyone here (save cm) knows the proper term for *those* mackeral snappers is "Papist whoremonger".

You should hear some of the words that The Flemish use when speaking of the Dutch. Or the English about the French. Apply for a passport and travel the world a bit.

I have had discussions with theolgians on a personal level its not rigerous or scientific or anything and they said that as both groups come formthe same region it can ba rgued aht anti semitism can be extend to muslims too.

Its a moot point under discussion and again not a hard established thing.

To be fair to Clayton Moore (which is very hard to do), I'm not sure that there are many other languages which have a specific derogatory word for not being Jewish.

As others have pointed out, many languages have a derogatory word for not being a native but not necessarily one for not being Jewish.

Only a bloody pom would say this..... Oh hang on you're a convict....

Indeed it does - by you, thinking that such word usage is unique to a single religious or ethnic group.

You've shown YOUR true colours by singling them out.

Even for a merkin, that's pretty dense.

I don't know. You've never travelled, or you're confined to hanging with your AB chapter? Perhaps you just like to advertise the fact to the kind of person you are with dumb posts?

So, a Catholic in the west of Scotland or Northern Ireland calling a Protestant a Hun, or the Protestant calling Catholics Tims or Left-Footers is one example of two religious groups with derogatory words for each other.

What's the purpose in this situation? It can range from a mild insult to full blown hatred.

There's far more other words and groups in the world that do the same as you level against the Jews.

Actually you are both a bit off. While term 'Semite' applies to anyone whose ethnic group speaks (or spoke) a Semitic language the term Anti-Semitic was, as TSR spelled out, invented by people who hated Jews against Jews and has been used to describe hatred of Jews ever since.

Too often the pompous accusation of antisemitism is used to discredit a persons view.

Far more often, it's because the person so described actually is a Jew-hating anti-Semite.

Why are the Jews the only people, that I know of, who have a derogatory word for people who are not Jewish? Goy

Why would non-Jews even need a derogatory word for people who are not Jewish?

You and baron ought to talk sometime.

As is asked of cm up thread: why would another culture *require* a specific derogatory term for "non-Jewish'?

Do the Chinese have a specific derogatory term for "non-Vietnamese'?

Do Hawaiians have a specific derogatory term for "non-Icelandic'?

Do you see the issue?

Indeed and all this explained by thinking about the helpful Sociological term, "outgroup," Mr. Moore.
