No conspiracy, Peter Thiel is a silent partner in Facebook and why be silent?
That is awesome, but what do Thieil's buying a farm here have to do with a nutter with guns?
Are you putting onus on him or what?

If you read what Brian Gaynor says you will follow that New Zealand is affording Thiele an escape route from what he fears, people like Brenton Tarrant, and then he is silent, and still a citizen, and thus somewhat complicit in Tarrant's crime. That is awesome, but what do Thieil's buying a farm here have to do with a nutter with guns?

The most famous gun slaughter in New Zealand is when Robin Bain killed his family then held the gun touching his temple and shot himself, with a 10 round semi auto 22
The most famous gun slaughter in New Zealand was the murder of 50 faithful muslims in two Christchurch mosques by a white supremacist.
I would agree that Thiele expects the social order to collapse and that he will have a safe haven in NZ. As the article hints, several other people familliar with venture capitalism are organizing their own escapes from what they see as failing Western democracies. What isn't clear in the article is that many of these people are directly responsible for the collapse they envision, such as Jacob Rees-Moggs who is one of the architects of Brexit. In Thiel's case, he's a Trump supporter.
It's easy to see these guys as insiders with secret information, but I think it's easy to forget that these people don't have all the answers. There are other forces at play here, both working towards stabilizing the Western democracies - liberal forces in the EU for example - and to make the whole thing worse - Vladimir Putin.
Peter Thiele doesn't know when or if the world's going to end, and he sure won't avoid facing the consequences for his actions in New Zealand. Mark Zuckerberg most likely realizes that the best course of action is to work with Western liberal democracy, which is why his company is taking action to stop hate on their platform.
Ah, the inclusiveness, the good feelings...
We now know how long they last: until an RSA invites a muslim to say a prayer at an ANZAC service.

"Anzac Day came about to recognise all those who went overseas and served their country and returned, and those who never returned. That is the significance and the only justification for Anzac Day, and I feel it should stay that way."
So no Muslim has ever fought and died in the ANZAC forces?
BBC reports that Tarrant will now be tested for mental health.
Interesting that he is suddenly not representing himself.
Think some of the media have been taking liberties with rumours. and their reporting.
So no Muslim has ever fought and died in the ANZAC forces?
Seems par for the course.BBC reports that Tarrant will now be tested for mental health.
No I don't think so
I think you count the number of Muslims in all of NZ before the 1970's on the fingers of one West Coast sawmiller's hand.
There was no rumour about representing himself. He fired his lawyer and said he would represent himself.
Then he realised he wasn't going to be able to speak, so has got himself a lawyer. No doubt these guys are being paid by legal aid, and they are not at the cheap end of the scale.
I have a huge problem with that. The whole thing is going to cost the country another couple of mio on top of what it's costing him to be kept in ultra-security.
He should be refused the right to plead not guilty - he filmed himself doing it for Zarquon's sake.
Seems par for the course.
Even if he is diagnosed with a mental illness it doesn't follow that that diminishes his responsibility for what he did.
Do you have solutions that don't involve removing rights? Kinda seems like the go to lately, and it seems not to be helping.
Hell why not just get rid of the right to ...
Am I right?
