Anthony of 'Opie and Anthony' Fired For Twitter Rant

The problem is that everyone's accused of racism. Everyone. Even I've been accused of racism.

One time I was professoring Introduction to American Government, and this black girl records my lecture. It's understandable one would want to record me -- I'm pretty great. The thing is... she was taking video. Who takes video?! This ain't no 2 Chainz show. I remember thinking, "Man, this better not end up on World Star Hip Hop dot com!

Two days later I see her in class, and ask "Rikayah, how did that video turn out?" And she says, "My dad thinks your funny." And so I say, "Oh-my-god, that's so wonderful: you know who your father is."

Well, ****, you'd think I said the ******-word. All these white bitchez were like "I'm gonna tell the dean," but home-girl was cool with it, observing "You know what they say: 'for mommies its babies, for daddies its maybes.'" **** yeah, high-five!

Good it turned out okay for you, but I have to ask: Would you have said the same thing if Rikayah was white? Even if you did, wasn't this a highly sensitive issue for anyone; why did you feel it was worth bringing up in a class on American Government?

Beyond that, given most of us tend to "see" race, I notice that you wondered if the video might end up on World Star Hip Hop dot com (not on Youtube) and that you characterized the reactions of your class as white vs black (with black okay with it). Do you still feel the same way?

Good it turned out okay for you...
At the risk of perhaps revealing I've missed your sarcasm, I feel compelled to tell you that there is an extremely high likelihood (like 99+%) that Cain was joking. We've all been there (at least I have). :)

Apologies for not picking up on this.

I still am having problems with people actually trying to prove that Anthony's rant was not racist.

Now you might make an argument that Anthony's reaction was a calculated attempt to stir up controversy to improve his ratings, since that is his stock in trade , and he just miscalculated the reaction (he has a long history of getting fired because of that) but to deny that his rant was racist is just plain silly. Question whether it was the "real" Anthony, or was it just another of his Shock Jock gimmikcs that backfired.

Racists will protect their own. It never fails.

This story is 100% true up to part where I said "that's so wonderful." After that is how I imagined it would play out if I was a tad more awesome. I also probably would have been fired.

My apologies, again! As has been said, sarcasm is very hard to pick up on in a discussion forum. And I am afraid that your post wasn't so far over the top of what I have already seen here to make me suspect it was driven by humor. Sorry.

He was taking creepshots with a 5DIII and missing focus. I really can't see why anyone would have any dealings with this guy.

For you not familiar with Opie and Anthony's history:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opie_and_Anthony

If anything, the St Pats stunt was even dumber then this. Anthony was basically paying people to break the law(public indecency and desacrating a place of worship),totally different then breaking a few FAA regulations. No wonder he got fired. And he cost the network a couple of milliion in civil suit damages aside from the FAA fine. I would not want anybody that stupid working for me.
The difference between Anthony and Howard Stern is that Stern is a lot smarter;he knows how to go right to the edge, maybe step over the edge a little, but avoid bringing disaster upon your show. Anthony never seems to be able to do that.

Cumia arrested for domestic violence:

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertai...ia-charged-assaulting-woman-article-1.2472003

Anthony Cumia was charged Saturday in Long Island with strangulation, assault, criminal mischief and unlawful imprisonment, police said.

The former co-host of the “Opie and Anthony” radio show was released conditionally after his arraignment Sunday after getting into an altercation with his 26-year-old girlfriend, who has not been identified, at his Roslyn Heights home around 11 a.m., according to Newsday.

The woman accused Cumia, 54, of breaking her hand, and the bizarre incident was caught on Periscope.

Fun note: I actually appeared on an episode of The New York Crime Report, broadcast on Anthony's internet channel.
