Another politician exaggerating military service?

Is Alabama gubernatorial candidate Robert Bentley exaggerating his military service in campaign ads?

I'm tempted to call BS on this one, although I do want to know what that black obelisk that his name is inscribed on is supposed to be. If it's supposed to be the VVMW, then he deserves to be called out on it; he clearly didn't die.

OTOH, the ad clearly states:

"...served his country, and healed troops wounded in Vietnam...."

It's not:

"...served his country, and healed troops wounded, in Vietnam...."

Where it could be argued that he was somehow claiming that he served in Vietnam. I certainly was not confused at all by the wording.

Yeah, kind of a grey area on this one. Nothing in the ad is untrue, but could possibly be seen as misleading. I don't know what the thing with his name on it represents.

It does not say in the link how long he was in the Air Force, but I do not recall there being a hospital at Pope AFB. We had a troop clinic and serious cases were sent to the Army hospital at Bragg.

He would have b een commander of an Army hospital? Huh? I left in 1970 and the commander of the hospital at Bragg was a Brigadier General. WTF?
