Hannity does a joint interview of Palin and McCain.

I predict that Palin will not do another interview alone or with a reporter who is not an ideological ally for the rest of the campaign (if ever).

It's either going to be with grampa there to hold her hand and take the tough questions or it's going to be with people like Hannity, Hugh Hewitt, Bill Kristol or Rush Limbaugh. Or both, like with this interview.

There will be no more one-on-one interviews with Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric or other mainstream reporters who might ask those nasty "gotcha" questions. ;)

On being McCain’s running mate:
Palin: “But, you for the years, I’ve been a big fan of his because of that independent that courses through your veins. And that’s made me admire him. And I knew it was confirmation, it was right on that I was to support him when early on in the presidential race, he had said something in the newspaper that was controversial; imagine that, about what was going on in the administration. It was independent, is what he had used, the tone of his comments.

And I had been asked about it up in Alaska, by the local press and I said, oh no. It was spot on. You know? We don’t need to keep going down that track, something that the administration was going on. And then I got a call from the Republican member of Congress who said, yes, I understand that you’re thinking about supporting McCain. Well, let me tell you about the Hell he’s put me through with earmark reform.”

Luckily for voters, Palin's gift for nonsensical gab still shines through. All she needs is a mic.

USA folk - is this unusual practice? Do the P &VP candidates not usually do a lot of interviews together and so on?

No, they usually split up to double the exposure, the assumption being that the VP candidate can carry his/her own water. Unfortunately, that assumption is invalid in the current case.

I've described it as "Bringing Dad along to make sure the daughter isn't being picked on"

Palin has already done a one-on-one interview with Hannity. The day after the debate she did a one-on-one with some reporter.

So she continues to do both single and team interviews with no real pattern.

It is very unusual, if not unheard of. I seriously doubt Obama and Biden have even been in the same State at the same time since the Convention.

Correction: The day after the debate she did a one-on-one interview with Carl Cameron... FROM FOX NEWS.

Correction: She continues to do both single and team interviews with a pattern, she does all her interviews with GOP friendly media outlets. (I would use the word "news sources" but I don't feel that term accurately describes these organizations).

FWIW Rachel Maddow said on her show yesterday that from now until the election the only interviews Palin will be doing will be Sean Inanity and Greta V. Tough interviews I am sure. Greta seems to have a crush on the First Dude, haven't seen any of Inanity/Palin to see if he is smitten likewise.

I think Rachel was just speculating that, wasn't she? Did she say she actually had official word?

Not sure. I am not going to rely on my memory and the transcript isn't up yet.

Pretty sure she was just speculating, I sort of caught her show twice last night by a twist of TiVo fate.

Olbermann is more likely to get some real info, so probably has a little better source.
