Body camera footage hasn't been released yet, and it is difficult to determine exactly what is happening, but it doesn't look good.

Personally I don't think skin color should matter (well beside the fact that the police seem to target for control/search/stop disproportionally darker skin colors), it seems to me that you have a multiplication of such incident can mean a few things (feel free to add your own) :
* it is a statistical anomaly and it will soon come back to normal good level
* it is actually always that way but it gets more reported/filmed and people are becoming aware US cops might not be as well trained as they should
* cops increasingly fail at their job and kill people
* a combo of this and more

It should be in the interest of all citizen to require some changes. Firstly real statistic and real documentation of all cop killing at the whole US level, rather than absence of such there is now. Secondly stable video camera on all cop. Then after a while once implemented see if one can get a baseline and maybe see if it is increasing or whatever.

At the moment due to derth of data nothing really can be concluded except whatever one's own prejudice tells.

This. Video cameras are everywhere now--dashcams, cellphones, body-worn cameras.

Regarding Fresno, someone once asked, "You ever been to a town where everyone has Down's Syndrome?"

The deceased is a privileged, white male and therefore nothing to see here. :(

Will you be founding the "Privileged, white male lives matter" movement? A Facebook page might be a nice start.

@Cain: funny, that was something like the way I felt the one time I was in that town. Thanks for giving me a phrase to use to describe that feeling.

In fact I often get the feeling in these threads that a number of posters would rather see dead cops than dead criminals.

That might be indicative of a bias on your part, and not representative of an actual attitude on the part of the people to which you are referring.

For my part, at least, I'd rather see live cops and live criminals (where possible). I think, on the whole, we're too forgiving of officers who use unreasonable or lethal force when dealing with certain individuals. We should not allow ourselves to consider an individual's criminal record as giving permission to officers to execute that individual at the slightest provocation. That's not justice.

It might be nice if we could move beyond the automatic ideological based responses, but I am not holding my breath.
