Another Bush Snow Job

I predict Snow will not last more than three years as Bush's press secretary.

Sorry to tell you, but I don't think you'll win the million on this one.

Anyway, I don't see what the big deal is. Of course Bush will pick someone who will be an advocate for him. Not a big surprise. I'm just glad he didn't pick Sean Hannity.

Thought some might find this blog interesting...it is a list of questions that Snow should be asked at his first briefing. The questions are based on positons that Snow took as a commentator.

In any event, it suggests how tough the job might be for snow.

I'm sure he is prepared to answer every one of those questions. :)

"We have some differences, but obviously those differences were not so great that the President felt I couldn't serve him well in this position."

Ay yi yi. That would either have been a nightmare, or else more entertaining than a sitcom.

He wouldn't be able to hang up on them. :)

"I'm sick of you liberal media weenies. This press conference is over."

I think it would be like a train wreck in slow motion. While its a horrific and tragic thing to happen, you can't manage to stop staring.

Actually, I don't know that I see a problem.

In his new position, he is the mouthpiece of the administration, and his job is to relate the administration policy, not his own. I'm sure that it would help if he believed it, but I don't see the fact that he has disagreed with the administration in the past as a problem. If he's up on the podium relating information that the administration does not approve, he won't be there long.

His disagreements with the administration won't damage Bush so much as his own reputation and credibility, which are well known beforehand. Past press secretaries can always be assumed to have resigned at least in part to having difficulty spouting the party line. Snow's positions are well known beforehand and he won't have the luxury of being given the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think Snow can do much damage, nor do I think he'll do much good. The President needs some successes in terms of policy, not spokespeople, to turn his presidency around. Snow won't contribute to policy, he's just a happy face for the press to look at. Put a happy face on a pile of crap still leaves you with a pile of crap.

I'm sure the position exists in Australia, it just isn't given any prominence.
Except for that David Smith guy, what a twat.
