Well it seems this is the season for xians to fortell doom.
Apparently Washington DC will be obliterated tomorrow; well at least we won't have to wait long for this one to fail.......

COUNTDOWN TO OCTOBER TENTH TWO THOUSAND NINE

Pastor Vincent Xavier, of New Wine Ministries, has made a startling prophecy of the total destruction of Washington, D. C. by an underground nuclear weapon. He claims that God told him the weapon was set to be detonated on 10-10-2009, and nothing would prevent it from happening!

After serving as Pastor for the last 17 years in a church in California, he has laid everything on the line, his ministry, his credibility as a person and as a pastor, as well as his personal lifestyle, to move to ARKansas to open a refugee center for survivors of the things he sees coming upon America. This is being done under the name of United Christian Charities in the new Arkansas location. If you haven’t yet heard Pastor Xavier’s prophecy, then you can find it located at the following link. Just click on “search” at the bottom and the messages will appear. My suggestion is that you listen to messages five and three in that order. These are quite long, and should be downloaded to your hard drive in order to listen as time permits.

Apologies if there's already a thread about this, I *did* search

Ooh, this one looks entertaining. He's placed his reputation as "both a minister and a person" on the line. Should be fun to see his reaction.

No worries. We get repeats of old threads all the time. We either just start the conversation anew or merge the two threads.

Staking his reputation? Hardly. He benefits more for being wrong the right. If he's wrong, he still would have been publicized. If he's right, he becomes the prime suspect.

If he is wrong, he is not of God. Prophets of God are never wrong. The Bible is clear on that. If it doesn't happen I would never trust a single thing the man has to say.

If he's right, then it's highly likely that he planted the bombs or was working with the people who did.

Afterall, there's no such thing as prophecy or prophets.

So much for Isaiah, Ezekiel, Amos and Matthew.

Should that not mean that any currently not yet fulfilled prophecy IN the bible needs to be cut out? After all, there is no way to know if they are not on the same level as Dani'el was and I suspect this one will be.
And since they then could in fact just be the ravings of madmen rather than the words of God, they should not be considered part of the inerrant word of God.

Perhaps the conservative bible project could do this. Just cut them all out (including the whole of Revelations of course) and put them in a sidebook with the addendum : Add to bible when proven true.

Sure there is. There are prophets. They indulge in prophecy. Now, their reliability might be a moot point. I think you missed a few descriptors in that sentence. ;)

If an underground weapon explodes under Washington DC, that's gonna stink, since I have family near there.

Hmm.

Probably a good thing I plan to be in Florida tomorrow then.

You know... just in case. ;)

Can they wait until after the Georgia-Tennessee football game tomorrow afternoon? I don't want my Saturday afternoon football viewing interrupted with special reports about the devastation. Thanks. Go Dawgs!

That's almost as bold a statement as science proves there is no God.

I'm sure you will say the same thing when the Anti-Christ rises up and causes everyone to receive a mark or be put to death.

Ah, but you have to believe to see. So we're safe phew

As if you have proved there is one.

Science is not there to prove and/or disprove a so-called god, only people who don't know how science works say things like that.

So, there is no so-called god of the bible, so it has no weight on the subject then.
