Ann Counter: comedienne

Great stuff! All that has me laughing in the aisles .... :D :D

Yes, but that's because you are a frustrated little man who can only feel good about himself by rallying around bigots like Coulter who represent a dying breed in the USA. The racist, narrow-minded neo-con.
Like the planatation owners of the past who sat upon their power perch for several generations, the likes of you and Coulter (and the boys in the White House too) will perish like dinosaurs.
There is no room in the modern age for such stupidity. The rest of the civilized world has figured it out, and even backwards states like yours will eventually come around.

Canuck,Canuck,Canuck. Thanks for the laugh. What do I owe for the psychoanalysis? Can I p!ss on a beaver for you?

That was quite a diatribe from a twit living in a 3rd rate backwater of no importance whatsoever in actual geopolitics. Have you noticed Canadians worth having get a green card, and many of them opt for US citizenship. Why is that?

Mephisto: Phelps is not to my liking. Idiots seldom are.

Mephisto: Phelps is not to my liking. Idiots seldom are.

I can understand that, Hammy, but between Phelps and Coulter:

both are patriotic to a fault

judging by their words and actions, they're both spiteful people

judging by their words and actions, they care little about anyone outside their particular group

Coulter has insulted US war veterans

Phelps has insulted US war veterans

they both hate gays

they both inspire ire at their public appearances

they're both callous and shallow people

they're both more abrasive than wiping your butt with aluminum foil

Now, you've professed to like Coulter, but hate idiots - my question is; how do you tell them apart? ;)

I'm still wondering if hammegk finds Coulter to be honest.

Odd. You seem rather fond of yourself...
Each of us deems the other an idiot. Now what, bunkie?

We could compare curicula vitae to see how it looks in the real world, but won't. My family and myself are reasonably happy with what mine demonstrates. ;)

gnome: More honest than most in the public sphere.

Mephisto: You may find them the same animal. I don't.

I'm not sure why I bother with Hammy but here are two Coulter lies right off the top of my head:

1. She claimed that the NYT did not write a story about Dale Earnhardt's death the day after. Turns out there was a story on the front page.

2. She claimed that Canada sent troops to Vietnam. Turns out that was not true either.

Those are two that are demonstrably false off the top of my head. I am sure I can come up with numerous more but it would not change Hammy's view. Some people are immune to evidence.

or, hammegk's diffinition of "honesty" is "says things I like to hear".

Fred Phelps, the 'God hates America' guy is patriotic to a fault? Exactly what definition of patriotism are you using?
The one that served Americans well for the first couple hundred years. The Dr. Spock generation -- and the remains of the educatonal system coupled with media schlock -- has now provided us with a generation having no useful values.

Whoops. Bad error on her part. Did it effect you in some way? Who did it effect

2. She claimed that Canada sent troops to Vietnam. Turns out that was not true either.
From what I've seen she incorrectly attributed the presence of Canadians fighting in 'nam as having Gov't approval.

Given the number of things she says, yup, sometimes they're wrong. And, assuming she did consciously lie in those instances, do you suggest only she is a liar? Stupid errors also occur.

She did that in her book, which makes it either a lie or the result of nonexistent research.

2. She claimed that Canada sent troops to Vietnam. Turns out that was not true either.

I'm willing to chalk that one up to a "mistake," as it was done on television, but what made that outrageous was her refusal to admit error even when corrected.

Do you actually believe you are receiving the The Truth from any of the media? Pundit's indeed say what they think their constituents expect.

Go listen to Franken, CNN, NYT, etc. and feel free to believe them.

I think you misunderstand the question. I somehow doubt that Mephisto was using the conventional definition of patriotism when he said that Fred Phelps, the guy that pickets the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq while carrying signs that say 'God Hates America' is 'patriotic to a fault'.

Is your position that it is ok to make an error as long as it does not effect you personally, Hammy? How about the readers of her book who nodded their head at her "evidence" that the NYT is elitist and out of touch with the Nascar crowd. Her evidence was the complete lack of coverage (her well footnoted and researched book failed to notice the front page story somehow)

So my point is it effected her readers who think the NYT is elitist and out of touch with the NASCAR crowd.

From what I've seen she incorrectly attributed the presence of Canadians fighting in 'nam as having Gov't approval.

Sure, errors occur. When confronted, she did not admit to an error though. She would rather continue the misinformation than correct it which speaks a lot about her integrity.

I would expect that thier Truth to Lie ratio is quite a bit higher than Coulter's.

Go listen to Franken, CNN, NYT, etc. and feel free to believe them.

Hmm, I am sure you perfer to get your facts from Coulter. Yikes! :)

You're right Nyarlathotep, I was using sarcasm by asserting that both Phelps and Coulter have a sick sense of what is good for the U.S. but that type of humor apparently (almost) goes undetected which I suppose it would if you see Coulter as politically astute or Phelps as a man of God. :)

gnome: More honest than most in the public sphere.
A dubious honor. Most in the public sphere are major bullsh*tters. It's hard to compare. I'm not talking about truth as in good opinions... I'm talking truth as in accurate recounting of facts. Perhaps you could make some individual comparisons.

Have someone read only Ann Coulter columns for a month, and someone else watch CNN for a month. Write up a factual examination of the current events covered in Coulter's columns. See which performs better.

Ann? Politically astute? Hardly. What she is is interesting.

Phelps sees himself as a man of god, and 30 years ago (well, pre-'nam anyway) imo a great majority of citizens would have agreed.
