Oh yeah. Thanks for the source. Now I remember the joke and the set up (kind of an important part of any joke). Yeah, he was satirizing one of the rights smear campaigns, perhaps something Coultier had said. Kind of puts a different "spin" on the whole thing doesn't it?

I'm not sure how you can compare that to Coultier's comment anyway, since what Franken said was so obviously a joke. I mean, really. He's suggesting that someone who was a POW for years had "sat out the war". How you can compare that to Coultier's insults is beyond me.

Anyone else find it utterly FREAKING hilarious that right wingers are taking a quote of Franken's out of context from a story about how the right had taken something he said out of context.

Damn. Talk about hutzpah (sp?)?

You may be right, Luke. I mean, there are people in this world who will beat a homeless man, or set him on fire for entertainment. There are people who can laugh at a black man being dragged behind a pickup truck, I suppose they should have a comedienne devoted to their tastes. ;)

I wonder if you'd make excuses for her if she were as vehmently mean about fetuses?

I don't think I've whined, and I certainly don't like Franken. One is the secret sexual fantasy of every single Conservative in office, the other is just a dumb blonde with a big mouth.
 
Luke T mentioned enjoying Coulter's ability to anger the left... but I must say I see a problem with that. Pissing off the left with witty satire about their weak points... that takes talent. I can enjoy it, too. Pissing off the left with lies, half-joking threats, and accusing them of hating something they care deeply for... is talentless and low.

Luke... let's say you came across someone taunting a person who had lost their child, for example, by making dead baby jokes. Is there any humor to be had in the fact that the "joker" is really getting a rise out of the other person?

I don't personally care for Franken as a political spokesman, but if he supports the side of the abortion issue that allows the mother to decide for herself (where are the fathers in most abortion cases?) whether or not to bear the burden of terminating her pregnancy then I have one thing in common with him.

Now, had ANY (actual) comedian representing a view from the Left (I can't think of any that don't) based his act on making fun of ANY PART of the abortion issue regarding either the mother or the fetus, I think most of us "baby killers" and "Islamic-Loving gay boys" would speak out just as vehemently about that as we do about Coulter's "jokes."

You guys, on the other hand, make excuses for her claiming Conservatives find her funny. These are the people who talk about family values and bringing integrity back to the White House? What's wrong with this picture?

Nor was I the one who brought up Franken. Or Moore.

To me, they are all of the same ilk and not worth the time.

I find her both funny, and damn close to being on point rather than not, and make no excuse for it or her.

I guess it depends on how one defines family values and integrity; i.e. I find nothing wrong with it. I'm laughing too hard, both at her and at the pc'lib'lefties she is infuriating.

Perhaps we would be happier discussing what the meaning of Is is. ;) And, please Ed, run Hillary in 2008. That I find is as frightening an individual as I've ever seen that close to major power; she stands for nothing except self-aggrandizement.

I know you've said several times throughout the thread that you think they're all political trolls, but I thought this quote made it pretty clear you supported Coulter over either Franken or Moore.

I'll have to agree that Franken is dull as a political commentator and not much better as a comedian, but passing off Coulter as a comedienne is like passing off Joseph Mengele as a family doctor.
 
I'm about to say let's lay off trying to get people who all dislike Coulter to agree on how much... it's kind of pointless.
