After Miss Coulter published a book saying in all seriousness that Democrats are traitors, I lost my patience with being fair towards her. It is difficult not to respond in kind when the provocation is of a nature such as that.

Well, I certainly understand that and I certainly understand that the occasional emotional reaction isn't avoidable or harmful. But does it really follow that such "replies in kind" are actually a good idea?

Look at the list of Ann Coulter quotes were deriding her for, find the couple about women and then tell me how "horse face" is any different or better.
