I wonder if that's because it would have been too difficult for users to make homemade slide reels. Come to think of it, were there even very many third party slide reels, or were they only made by Viewmaster?

Hmmm Ancient and erotica don't really seem to mix well...

I would think that erotica would need arts or writing, which everyone didn't have. And its not like they had magazines... and sure you had the giant penis sculptures and fertility idols.. but I don't think those were intended for erotica

Romans.. Greeks.. Japanese.. China.. I think those will be the earliest cultures to have erotica.. Though there may have been other things here and there too..

I was always under the impression that having a 'chunky' frame was an idealised figure. If you were part of an early civilisation (especially if it was hunter\gatherer) growing a bit podgy was a dream, you were eating far more calories than you needed to survive - you were that well off that you could be lazy. There's probably also a bit of exaggeration regarding "child bearing hips' thrown in as well, for good measure

Actually, Viewmaster sold the empty reels and the Realistic stereo camera so such is quite possible. A number of sources made both standard stereo porn and transparency (slide) porn in 3-D. Last I know of was about 8-10 years ago)
