I've read how those against the proliferation of guns were motivated by emotion.

Being afraid of all those things is a very very strong emotion. All I'm saying is I wish gun folks would bury the emotion meme about those of us who would prefer less guns.

I had to get emergency cash wired to the UK last week. It felt awkward asking a small shop how much cash they would be able to pay out. Then I realized that shopkeepers in that area probably had a fairly low fear of handgun holdups. Given a stat from 2002 - 14 murders with firearms in the UK, 9,369 in the U.S. - this lack of fear is justified.

(On the other hand there is a major glitch in the Web site where I got the stats; it says the UK had 183,419 drug offenses per 100,000 population in 2000.)

There's no way the U.S. will ever accept UK-type handgun restrictions and given the number of firearms in circulation it would be pointless to try. A relatively high rate of gun violence is part of U.S. culture, but not one I particularly like.

Sorry for the late reply - weekend intervened.

The vaccinations I received as a child were provided in response to diseases that were known to have existed in the past and currenly existed at the time of my vaccinations. Most, if not all, of these diseases exist today and will continue to exist in the future.

Owning guns to protect against tyranny in the US government is based on a purely hypothetical situation that has never existed in the past, does not currently exist, and shows no real possibilty of existing in the forseen future.

The mistake is assuming that those who are stockpiling weapons have any understanding of reality. These are the people who stoke their paranoia wiith daily feedings from Breatbart, Redstate and the Drudge Report.

Jews in Warsaw did nothing to stop tyranny. That you or anyone would somehow use the Jews in Warsaw as some sort of trophy in an attempt to show that citizens can do anything about tyranny is frankly offensive.
