Alternatives to the Simple Majority Vote?

I wonder if the OPer realizes that the effort to change or game the system is exactly the same tack that reactionaries are doing with these ballot measures and attempts at Constitutional amendments. It really smacks of "We're not getting our way, so we need to work the system in order to have our will enforced".
