"Almost Saint" Mother Teresa

geni said:
Are you claiming that the world would have been a better place without her (you almost did earlyer in the thread)?
It's not just Epidis that's claiming that. Plenty of Indians are claiming India would have been a better place without her.

There's more, if you care to look for it.

As an example, from the last link:

The mayor's lobbying to name a street after Mother Teresa has yet to meet general approval.
They can't even name a street after her in Calcutta. Makes you wonder what they know that we don't.

So because the presentation went over the top she shouldn't be reconised as a good person?
I didn't say that. One should be recognized for the good that one has accomplished, not the good that was perceived as having accomplished. One standard for MT and everyone else.

The JREF money is going exactly where Randi wants it to...to educate and inform people so they can make the kind of decisions that will protect them from sharlatans like Jim Baker who lived in a multi million dollar home with an airconditioned dog house.

Where my savings go would surpise you if it were any of your business. I got my saving by earning it. I did not promise the moon to get donations.

The Roman Catholic Church is one of if not the wealthiest groups in the world. They own countless amounts of property all over the world. The pope wears enough gold on his fingers to support a village in India for who knows how long. The vatican is the palace they (the hierarchy of the church) live in surrounded by untold wealth of gold, silver and priceless antiques.

If my opinion is nonfalsifiable then why did you ask? If it can be shown that someone was a fraud, that they did not do the things for which they are being touted, that they did do harm instead of good then there is the proof and basis of my opinion. One thing Randi and his money have taught me is to question authority especially in matters of woo woo. Too long has religion gotten a free ride, immune to criticism and questioning.

I simply do not fall into line and shout the praises of someone who does not deserve those praises in the first place. I think if you would look at the evidence with a critical eye you would at the very least wonder why this woman is being rushed to sainthood.
