I also want to know why anybody with a lick of sense thinks that a thug who berats the bejabbers out of a prisoner and then claims, without further evidence than the beating-extracted confession, that he prevented an ambush, yet has no proof such as people showing up for the ambush, qualifies as a "good and decent man." This is balderdash. Hugo Chavez is a far cry better for the people of Venzuela than some of the dirtbags we have propped up around the continent were for their people. We even gave political aid and comfort to a piece of crap like Pinochet, mostly, I suspect, to provide that lunatic Friedman to make it his own personal petri dish. They should both burn in hell.

Had we not supported a Mafia darling like Batista in Cuba, there would have been a far less welcoming environment for Castro's revolution. Why do I not hear the rightwingers complaining about how supporting Batista came back to bite our butts off?

Why do we not hear the right complaining about how we supported suchj evil scumm as Somosa in Nicaragua? Do you really believe that they needed a dictator who would shoot any of his own people who would not recognize the right of United Fruit Company or whoecver their corporste heirs were to just take farmland that was used to provide beans for the locals to grow bananas for the entrepreneurial class? Get a clue. Ortega stepped down peacefully when he was voted out at the point of a terrorist organization's bayonette. Was that a victory for the people of Nicaragua? It appears to me that it was a victory only in that there was no blood bath. And DANG! Look at who they went and elected president after Chamorro had shown them what capitalism was supposed to be about.

Don't be calling Obama a dictator while fascist lunatics like Walker, Snyder and Kasich are running about with blood in their eyes dismantelling any social infrastructure that stands between the people and subserviance to the corporations. They seem to have made the mistake of thinking that because people voted for them in an off-year election the country was ready for fascism.

We shall never be ready for that.

An amnesty for existing long term illegal immigrants, tightening of border security and loosening of the legal immigration rules is the only real way to get that immigration problem under control, not stupid nativist rhetoric of how 'They don't deserve to be here'
